For our urban areas our number one and two issues are jobs..and guns…along with affordability and greening communities….i was in a neighborhood in NYC where a 45 caliber bullet had pierced  a home of a mom and two kids we rehabbed their place at…horrified, we thanked God they were alive….stopping the police, I asked who can I talk to ….in the 101st precinct…near the homes, were NYCHA housing..people whose rent, continues to be not giving them wealth but passing it on to management..whatever that means…imagine if each unit was ownership…each family taxpayers, each neighbor a strong voice….

Jobs for manufacturing are part of the solution too…our made in America shop..is off and running, a buzz..order your furniture from us..we are transforming another area that we are honored to be part of…

Combined with decent places to live, and greenspace…communities can come back..be safe, kids have jobs and green space… and less guns..and or no guns….we pray, we act…we have just begun…..

We work we pray we thank God..off to the  Rockaways, Breezy after a team depot day.

God blesses us with volunteers like Brendon who keep coming back to help us..to work to give back…

Many families 11 months out are not back in their homes due to Sandy..the stress, is horrific.  One cant imagine, still not knowing what to do with your home. PRAY for all the families and US..it helps! No question..and support our efforts……Never before in our existence have we had more opportunity to change the face of home ownership for working people in Westchester County.

Never before have we dealt with in all NY a Hurricane of such proportions. Never before has the one God of all faiths, worked with us to open so many opportunities so we could build doors of hope and love and windows and walls of strength sweat and change..

Can you join us….Our 25th anniversary continues…..and what a year,….800 plus Sandy homes…Veterans homes…and you getting involved! jjk

After Friday workers on our site 60 team depot strong, we moved to work on the Rockaways with volunteers and back here again, in Yonkers, with a group of community service  people….Sunday our Fire Marching band played…in Harlem and we returned to share the love at Times Sq Church where their teen group came out and volunteered…

Its time for us to step it up…real estate has been a challenge but this year we are seeing our ability to help purchase empty homes we can rehab for vets…..

Our days are 8 days a week it seems now..long, but strong, challenging but successful..and God has been blessing us in ways never seen before..we pray, we act, we need your  help..please donate today…

My walk to ground zero..always doing it around this time..last nite I walked..about four miles to the shining lights..i thought of dave and marty of Silverstein who are building the world trade centers, mike from zwicker, and Rogers Construction..all who have helped us.

As  you walk towards the block…interesting perspectives,…St Peters Church on the left, at Pierre Toussaint Square..on the side of the church the Metal Crunched Cross, made from material of WTC,The Federal building opposite and kitty corner you see the WTC growing up.

I remember walking trying to get past Canal street..on Sept 12, right after 911…I could only get so far, I wanted to help. We ended up helping that Saturday filling the New Rochelle Armory with Habitat volunteers with relief supplies from all over the world… a command center for distribution..construction boots, food, plywood and more, all to help the relief effort. Workers would come and get the materials and bring them to ground zero.

Today we prepare for our 911 ribbon cutting, of the Made in America Shop..dedicated to those who lost their lives, to those who protect us, to the future of this country. Our war is not overseas but here, to take it back..to win the Battles and the Wars, to have good jobs, and simple decent homes in our communities once again. God bless  you and God bless America!

Labor Day weekend…the traffic beeps, the ambulances drive thru a highway, people rushing..yikes…

Some walking some biking, some kayaking….as  a I reflect on all of our work..our restores, our building, our community building our volunteers…I am grateful for the sweat of our labor…that we think about how people live in the community where we build..that it is an honor to give hope, bring hope, have hope to share that the world can change for the better….we pray for no war in Syria today, we pray for our families we have helped n haiti, in Tajikistan, in New Orleans, in El Salvador, in Mexico, and India..in Yorktown and Larchmont, Yonkers and  Mt Vernon….

We stop for a  moment tomorrow, recognized in a parade in Breezy..an honor..in hopes no storms, no hurricanes, no tornadoes…in hopes  of other Labor Days, where all will be able to live back in their homes and in other simple homes…
