As we get ready for our kickoff for 25 years, and our American Dream Luncheon….this Thursday.. I think back over so many things..from walking into our first rehab on Willow where rubble and a dead pit bull were, and now we see five families live side by side…..

To working in Yorktown on a home, my first in the county as a volunteer, running up to volunteer to put waterproofing on the deck, for plywood there…to helping in the floods of mamoroneck and much much more.

Yesterday I have so many gifts daily come my way. A man from France walks in…I want to get our school involved..we continue in French and English…he has started a school in business but with a humanitarian component…all students work in service.  We got to talking about his career, Haiti and he worked with Paul Farmer, and Habitats across the country. He is on our team now.

A great not from Larry Chaflin, the CEO of Samuelson furniture comes in…Thank you for a great day Saturday, is the theme….”it was an honor to be associated with this and a true joy to be able to help others in time of need.  You and your team are responsible for a tremendous helping hand in this community.”

So many realize the essence of success is giving back, helping, being in service..be it a business school or a CEO..or a church or synagogue. We have only just begun….stay tuned for an exciting amazing next 25 years. God bless you..

Gun violence in NY, families still without homes from Sandy, stress of high taxes…no wonder it is difficult for  so many..but this weekend, we moved in families into homes..

Our hope comes in the Lord, who made heaven and earth..like the Psalmist says..

Praising God our hammers become our instruments, our volunteers or Hope Builders…

So many need to see that, ..in NY we need to pray and then act to make Affordable homes…simple decent green communities a right not a political issue that gets fought against. Vets need to come home to homes with a key and a job…work ing people need a right to be not burdened and seniors a right to  have their homes maintained and taxes not hitting them…to this  end we work, we move we pray..we act..

FAITH BUILDERS! Join us..churches and synagogues are signing up!

CORPORATE BUILDERS! Build with us..companies are at the heart of team building, and dream building with habitat and homes..

INDIVIDUAL BUILDERS,..sign up to build in our Builders camp at our Made in America shop..exciting..

God bless you..email me for more info jim@habitatwc.org

A great weekend, we move ahead…helping in community gardens, work ing on Beechwood avenue, helping in the Rockaways, assisting with families throughout.

We take so much for granted..many are still so stressed over Sandy…many seniors are burdened with the inability to take care of their homes..but there is hope..

Helping one another.. we must and need to do this. God calls us no matter what faith…Young Israel of Scarsdale helped us out this weekend, making flowers into a star of

David in one of our gardens. SAi continues to help….iona Prep volunteered with us strong as they continue….to help a senior in need.

If all of the people who say they loved God and loved one another helped, we would and will change the face of the county, NY and the world.

To this we continue to commit, to Vets…to helping, to caring, to reaching out, to improving neighborhoods and more..! join us

Waking every day, we have a choice..to make the world better or not..

What doyou choose..we have so many opportunities to get involved…

This weekend our Marching Band the Fire from Habitat marched in the parade, in Yonkers…in the pouring rain…..the kids loved it the crowd loved it, we loved it…kids who take a drum and make it an important part of learning, of music, of activity..

Sat we had National Grid employees en masse… also with Leavitt Fuirst employees…the French American School, Horace Greeley, Bruce from West Point was on site and tomorrow our retirees get together for lunch after volunteering all month with us..

They all choose to make the world a better place…what say you, get involved..

“Hope is a waking dream” it says on a gift given to me by St Josephs college of Maine..as part of an honorary degree and ceremony..unworthy..but honored..inspired..i believe that Action is the dream come true..

What will you do today…what dream have you had, idea, or positive thought that you need to act upon today..each second we are called to do that..to act to love to dream to act to love and be in service….seeing people make that first step towards dreams..towards helping others is amazing…I am fortunate to see that every day of my life..people in action..volunteering in service to one another…to help moms like Sherlon who move into their new home..who graduates with an MSW this week from college, who will help us help others…

Or Jose, whose students at his school all wrote letters for him to get a home….then he volunteered so many extra sweat equity hours helping others..amazing….

Or like Allie who gives of her time all the time to help Rockaways loss to become walls of hope again…helping to rebuild dreams come true….or Mary, who came back to the Restore..to volunteer again…

All Hope builders, Dream Builders. Reality makers, life changers, waking to help others….

What will you do today..habitat is waiting..email jim@habitatwc.org if you want to help. May God bless you this day with love and health, with dreams and action….the world waits for more dreammakers..you are one of them…

Your support now more than ever is vital for our success…now more than ever we have to create a NY that real estate is not a commodity but a place to live and retire…that simple decent green homes and condos can be created.. and life can be celebrated…we celebrate you, your life, and our world together in helping to tikkum elum, to climb Jacobs Ladder, to help our brothers and sisters in life..
