FW: blog

If we look at different events in our life you can see the hand of God in all..yesterday I met with two pastors, and we discussed just that, what brought us to the point we were in that day..We work together in this area to help our area be a better, stronger more positive area..no question..we believe God has led us to this point to help one another…

One Pastor compared his life to Moses, being send down the river..in a basket, and God ended up taking him to a good place…saving him from crocodiles in the river, from trials, from challenges..I believe you might see that in your life..

Mark Twain once said..”To give birth to an idea, to discover a great thought an intellectual nugget, right under the dust of a field that many a brain plow had gone over before. To be the first that is the idea..”  what idea is waiting for you to plow, and to help bring to fruition..

Last nite I was plowing with the Junior league of Pelham. Thank you for your time ladies..thank you for brainstorming, thinking ,offering to help.

They want to get involved..they heard about how this is the year that people must be involved with thinking about buiding in their own town, this is the year that they want to build with us, help us..thank you Junior Leaguers..what great idea is about to come and be brought to fruition…

From here today we hope to get warehouse space, we hope to be able to get more land, we hope to be able to get more money for our building..new ideas are born here every day.

Tonite I travel on train to Washington with other Habitat directors..pray for this trip as we talk with leaders there, and even a meeting in the White House about how we can help more homes in our country and world be made..stay tuned.

Join us, shake off the dust, unearth new ideas..help Habitat build in your community..the Excitement is building!

FW: blog

Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote..

To reach the port of heaven, we m ust sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it-but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor….

Get involved and do something today..

God gives every brid his worm, but he does not throw it into the nest..

Time to get involved..in the dead of winter, seems like we drag, stay stagnant, and wait, or put down anchor..

Go out and get involved..reach out to a senior citizen..come  out to our Habitat site on Sat..go get involved with a service club..help raise support for a cause…visit a nursing home..help at a soup kitchen..build a home with habitat

Life is too short to drop anchor..we drop anchor at the end of our trip..not during it..at the end of our lifespan, not during it..otherwise we will get stuck in the middle of the ocean..

Today we have a President of a company coming by with an engineer..Jim I have to see you, I have a new design for a home..honored he will be with me..he comes by.

Then tony Guzman, whose sister was killed 12 years ago, now graduated college and he comes by for some Habitat scholarship money, thanks to the Lanza family foundation, to help as a gift for his new accounting manuals..he has been successful in light of a time he and his family could  have dropped anchor..

Then I go to Orchard street this afternoon, a street that was given for naught..and we look at new land.. there, a street that people had no vision for ..but I see one of the Greenest Streets in America in Yonkers….wait and see, we will do our Zero Energy Home there..we will work to make it happen.

Today sacrifice lunch and dinner with me..for Haiti..the monies for homes are piling up..

So don’t drop anchor..start Sailing…God bless each of you! Jim Killoran

FW: writing from Haiti..

finally got on email..the little things we take for granted, a bed, water electricity..a blanket,, i stopped at tent city outside the palace that had falled in the square..somone begged for blankets..begged for support..

begged for help..what do we do..

driving thru the streets of Port Au Prince, you can smell horrible smells outside buildings that have been crushed, where bodies and souls now lay..you know death had hit there..people live in the streets at nites..making not only the parks tents cities, but the streets tent avenues...tons of concrete from homes is being brought to the outskirts of towns now...

towns being brought to their burial grounds. The people are hurting, medicines, blankets, etc..People are migrating out to the outskirts of the cities, and to towns that will now house new residents..We brought medicine to an outskirt town and found many needed it, the mayor had made an extensive list there, for supplies...

Habitat is going to be giving out transitional shelter kits first, then transitional shelters, that the supplies can be made into core houses, permanent homes. I visited homes today that Habitat had built..in the outskirts of Por Au Prince, strong homes, 200 inone neighbhorhood had been bjuilt  Please spell check Ron and Wayne as it is hard for me to read with no lights..invertors are running the computer...here..

God bless everyone, take nothing for granted anyone..each second, each minute is gift...Join us in Habitat, we will make a long term difference here in Westchester and in the world, because of your hands, hearts and help...for Haiti and everywhere....
