Saturday across the world, we are building …and here in Peekskil, White Plains, Yonkers, New Rochelle Mt Vernon, we move ahead, we build, we help, we success…what a blessing it is..

To be able to help, to be able to be blessed in serving, to changing lives forever. Rebuilding this country is vital to our success, rebuilding it green, vital for long term success.

Without that we can not accomplish anything, we will see hurricanes, we will see tornadoes and floods, we will not have a world for our kids, grandkids, Asking a clerk this morning, is global warming real, she emphatically stated yes….a science major, she worries…our worries get turned into helping when we put pervious pavers down, when we put solar panels on, when we put blue jean insulation in, when we make community gardens…wont you join us in building  a greener tomorrow. God bless you!

More and more headlines talk about are we in decline…#”Reversing American Decline.” In the #DailyNews..todays daily news opiKotkin, fellow of Urban studies, hilite Reagan and Clinton on creating jobs,

And how the middle class is being lost. It talks about a state of entitlement and benefits that is not lifting up..we know that.. the same models of perpetuating urban poverty rather than lifting people up, are at the heart of Habitats mission. Home ownership…..the American dream..  unlike the challenge of the any money goes, no credit check…Habitat has prudence, patience and people, connecting its mission to lifting people up.    Faith based, with the Love of God and Ruah as its wings..we move with thousands of volunteers here In Westchester and in the Rockaways to help rebuild Sandy relief homes and elevate the importance of bringing back affordable home ownership.  The models being espoused, touted and spoken about are not working from traditional war on poverty methods.  Housing projects are being knocked down, for more rentals while developers are making millions on this model and appointees tend to be political and are using old models.  The key is to chaqge this.

We are taking back empty foreclosed homes and creating the American Dream again in the form of interest free no down payment methods. Like the homesteading of the western frontier, or the Leavitt town of yesterday, we need a shift to this model aggressively.  Another hammer waiting to fall, not of the Habitat kind but financial crisis one, is that of the college debt. There is more debt for college kids then ever before….we need to make things again, products in this country and working at these jobs is something that needs to be valued, not demeaned. Manufacturing green products is one of our goals, and stay tuned for announcements.

We are sponsoring  a #WaronPoverty conference and ask you to join us. If interested email jim@habitatwc.org

Main st..i love Main St..always have been on Main Sts..Ashburton, N Main, Mt Veron Avenue, all like major Main Sts.  Amazing..

We work hard to get it done…I am a member of the National Main St History preservation trust…no question..

Blessed to help think about revitalizing Main Sts..making neighborhoods whole again..the small business, the neighbor, the person at the bus stop.

When Wall streets challenge hit again, Mainstreets importance was elevated..we handt heard about Main street for a long long time.

Keys to the success are to have city employees, walking police, slow traffic, safe and clean streets and a few more things I will introduce into the series.

For years documentsi have been fighting for Main Streets, in New Rochelle..the highway they let go thru, the cars that hit people, the crime that happens..its time for a change…stay tuned

Pride In history, and a vision of where you are going……would you like to join our local project committee, our Main Street committees in your town or city…email me.

#FaithinAction tour today…luncheon…the Theology of the hammer, ministers, priests, rabbis, youth ministers all are welcome..

We move ahead, we lead, we continue..what a great important event and thank you Lisa Riccardi, our gala event volunteer, habitat volunteer par excellence.

We are asking each ministerial group to get involved, like Pelham, and Rev. Noel, who is sponsoring  our Pelham LPC meeting there and selling two by fours at the Pelham fair.

The power of Gods love, movement, mustard Seed, #Ruah is amazing..if we don’t breathe in the spirit, the Ruah, Hebrew word for Spirit, we miss the ability to have a whole life..one of faith and action.

One of movement and helping, one of philanthropy of time, self and money, one of changing the world, tikkum elum, one of movete las montanas..moving mountains, in ways we could not believe.

Sometimes I am amazed of how much we have accomplished, taking on a hurricane, floods, building in the number one county that people leave for taxes, and cant afford..and having victory after victory for homeowners..do you think God is not working…get your congregation, no matter what faith involved now..join us in practice, living practice of the theology of the hammer.

Last up in #Peekskill yesterday, a city on the move, a city of destiny, a  city of great people and history, we have built there many times. On Howard Avenue, rehabbing many homes in the city, helping paint the Housing Authority, and much more. With that in mind, we continue, we move, we make things happen. Great to be back in Peekskill, we will have an office there again.  It is the only city in Westchester where a #president visited, Abraham Lincoln, until today, when President #Obama visits Tarrytown.

With that in mind, congrads Peekskill on all you are doing, it will be great to be back there.  We are finishing a two bedroom condo there for a family, amazing. If interested in applying, email jim@habitatwc.org

Also thanks to #HenHudHighschool and #LakelandHighSchool, for kicking off the Northern Westchester high school club…amazing…Thanks to our teachers, guidance Counselor, Jessica Downey and Emily and Sam Nelson for their leadership in Hen Hud and Lakeland. The Excitement is building!

May God bless you and yours today, may we change and move mountains, from horrible housing and costs of living, to enjoying the earth we have and helping to make #NY and intergenerational,  NY where people can live, young and old,  seniors and Vets and more.

The world we live in..is a great world…yesterday Roosevelt High School volunteers helped us on site..tomorrow more than 50 Goldman Sachs vets assist us…this Mothers day weekend..about 7 years ago, a mom writes, the house I was living win with my 3 sons was part of a mortgage scam..sold from the owners leaving them along with their tenants homeless…Because I was on a fixed income, and did not have the best credit, I was forced to splt up my family and move in with a friend…sleeping in her living room, the boys to live with their father. This wast he most difficult thing I had to do. The I applied for Habitat housing, and after a year of waiting and losing hope, I receive a call from Mary Bonner. I still recall the surreal feeling when she told me I was to going to be a new home owner. Your generosity here today will give someone else this feeling.  Since Partnering with Habitat I was inspired to return to school and recently received my Masters in Soicial work. My boys are doing great, one of them now serving with the US Navy, my youngest just started college, this is what habitat does for families.   I want to thank everyone who made my dream a reality, all the volunteers who donate their time, for you who donate your money and services, and for all the hard working staff at habitat…..Hapy Mothers day, wont you donate to us today for another mom and family….

We stopped building the ark and started building homes again today…all kidding aside, we see flooding on the River parkways  (makes sense right, Hutch, brx river, etc) as well as some flooding in Mamoroneck, Howard beach and sandy areas.  Gray to Green, less concrete and cars, more water running into homes.

The Sheldrake river has been fixed better, only some homes on n barry flooded and first, water on howard basements, but some has been fixed.

We have to make more earth again and less concrete, cars and roads cause flooding, no question…water goes over concrete into homes….stay tuned…

May is National Bike Month, we have opportunities to bike with us on our first tri  city bike ride…from New Rochelle to Mt vernon to Yonkers…

Amazing…along with that we have information sheets in our Restores on safe biking…how to bike safely..in our communities..we need more bike lanes no question…

Save the earth, exercise, more green streets.   We also will have rides weekly here and you can donate your bike to  our restores as well.

We will also be sponsoring a bike safety day with kids as well…. It relates to our world, because neighborhoods need kids in bikes…..does your kid bike or skype, does your kid know how to pedal, or  push buttons texting, does your neighborhood have bike racks, or blocked places stopping them….its time to change Westchester….

Today we welcome the #BoardofRabbis from Westchester …amazing…Rabbi Morgenstern..one of my rabbis, a brother, comes out and takes the lead.. he has been volunteering with us for years.

What mitzvah, how amazing…TODAH! .  THE Torah talks all about building rebuilding, from Nehemiah and Isaiah to rebuilding communities………….thank you #Nehemiahbuilders!

Last
#HORACEMANNSCHOOL sponsors its first HOME! In yonkers for a vets family….amazing!!!!!!!! their sports teams, the Habitat club, the teams all are helping us build this first home on Purser Place…amazing..thank you Mohit, Ms. Kraus, Tom Kelly, the  board and more..for helping…awesome! Iona strong, Ardsley strong,  volunteers strong..

We continue to work in ways that are going to help us move ahead with thousands of volunteers..no question.

We had Ohio and California volunteers this past two weeks.

We had our gala….

We had two foundations filled with gravel, we taped another home.. we helped fire victims from Pelham Road,

We helped kick off another restores beginning..

With all that’s simple neighborhoods deserve simple things..

Slow traffic, walkable area, walking police, green space, home ownership and much  more..

In each neighborhood we are in….we see time and time again…when the above exist, life exits..

When it does not…we see challenges, be it on Main St. In SoNo New Rochelle, or

In a neighborhood where cars rip thru…we have to change these things now..

Join us in creating green, safe, clean, neighborhoods for families in need…its time..

=-7ake a prayer walk or run today or bike ride…pray for each other, our familes, ny our country.  Two of my favorite places to walk and pray at NYC, SoNo New Rochelle, and Five Island Park.

At nite often I walk to the world trade center, and pray ..for the lives lost, for the hope of a better tomorrow, for a better ny. Today five island park, I walked to and around in NewRochelle, amazing…beautiful (see photos Instagram) rediscovering our local area, with gratitude is spiritual and I am blessed to have our HQ and center here.  And also walking around our neighborhood in SoNoNew Rochelle is something so grateful to walk and pray and then work hard to help get families home! Pray and act..Faith in Action..its time!
