Happy valentines day to all…

 

No question to all who  help us…we are so blessed to be part of this ministry of LOVE! It certainly is..a ministry of Love..each wall is one of love, of sweat of tears, of joy..of changing families lives! This ministry is amazing!!!! Everyday is Valentines with Habitat and you!  The best job so many have in their lives..is when they come and they help on a Habitat site in love..the love of the Torah, the Koran, the Bible, love of humanity..love of life, love of helping..

So remember…Everyday is Valentines!!!!!! We love you!!!! Thank you!!!!!!

Its early Saturday…many groups out..the light snow won't stop habitat volunteers…building in Greenburgh, White Plains, Yonkers. And more

Its a day of great work to be done, much accomplish across the country and the world…

We continue to pray for our partners Claude Jeudy and the gang for their work, for their needs in Haiti..Kembe Fem Claude!

We also realize we can help change the face of this county with your help.

Thanks to the Breakfast club of N Westchester, a business group I spoke at yesterday..at Bedford Lighting, what a strong group..they are not the "Builders Club"

On the way to DC…for  a meeting Habitat on the Hill..veterans..caring about the face of home ownership in this country..I dedicate this to Millard Fuller…Jim Lasser..a veteran and Mary Bonner..may she feel better..as well as to my uncles and cousins all Vets..

We take for granted not getting bombed, not getting hurt, no one chasing us..we take so much for granted..in our lives..that we need to be grateful to our Vets..to our soliders to those who cared, and died for us, to those who protect us now!

Back from Washington DC...last nite on the train..i thought about the two quick days..in and out..meeting people from acrosss the country..and the world..sitting in a Senators office..working with Vets groups..amazing..

we are very excited about our work and the way in which we can change the future of Home ownership in this country.

 

I had watched the show on the Freedom Riders..i thought how they almost got killed for riding on a bus...I thought about Abraham Lincoln going to Peekskill, about FDR on train stops..about the last ride for the Kennedys to Arlington..  about the drivers from Ethiopia in Washington where in 1984 I was fortunate to help the country with supplies for famine..

 

Where are we in this country today..do we need Freedom Riders again..in the country..in Westchester..

the train drove through the S Bronx...where i used to volunteer on 163rd and Shakespeare..i saw the beautiful river, then a fire going on with six hooks and ladders...a family member calls me..Jim there is a fire on Orchard St ..in Yonkers next to our house..someone had a fire in the room..a great response by Yonkers Fire Dept.   Vinyl siding melted on the home, not ours..but our Hardy Plank..a durable better product did not...the house was where we donated furniture and food for a family that for three months had lived on a floor...

 

I arrived back in new rochelle where our headquarters is..to think of the recent crime in a downtown with no walking police..our walking neighborhood needs great walking police...do we need Freedom Riders?  You tell me.

As we work on  a day that almost hits sixty in January.we are great to go..big to build.happy to hammer…because its been a mild winter…families also save utilities monies..and volunteers feel stronger

What are you waiting for..

Before it was in vogue, we have been doing the Superbowl Build for years…we realize that millions will be spent…on one game..how about Millions in one day being spent on building…THE SUPERBUILD DAY!

Well in June we have builders coming from all over the country…and from here helping us to blitz homes in Yonkers, White Plains, Greenburgh, somers and more…

DC 9 blitzes with us every time they go out to a site..we keep on keeping.

For that matter, we say thank you…we say lets go..lets make it happen…come out and build..like Silverstein, Rogers, Universal Building supply and more…Zwicker electric…they all help.

God bless all of you…those who build are the real heroes..those who help in their community…join us…donate to us..we need it to get foreclosed homes in our hands, to make it happen!
