Great day, two closings yesterday.. we prayed for people regularly yesterday in the hood, with my community heros..daily we pray for guns to get out of the neighborhoods, for drugs to get out,for the Holy Spirit to leave…why would we not..Saturday mornings a group of us will pray…for our neighborhoods to be safe..for community neighborhood watches, and for people to work together..

With that in mind we ask for you to be able to join us in our work in our prayer in our action…lives and families and communities depend upon it..

It is very exciting to be part of the Phoenix rising out of the ashes, safety in the neighborhoods, homes of love and community gardens and fresh paint and better schools because of all of our efforts. God bless you.

Today we worked hard, like everyday, from Mt Vernon to Somers, from Somers to Mamoroneck..

The other day, I started in Mt. Vernon, to Mamoroneck to Mt Kisco speaking to fox lane kids..it is a big county.

But we can figure out how to help all have a simple decent home to live in no question!!!!! Wont you join this Green vital Mission…affordable housing actually depletes carbon dioxide by all the time cars don’t travel over the Tappan Zee bridge..commuting and polluting…stopping the carbon footprint from getting bigger..

I want to thank Diversified Advisors for being with us again this year, stepping up like they have so much in the past…we appreciate their time, effort and support…also for Mary Lou Greco for helping with our sites and on our Local Project Committee, working hard..learning much from Mary Bonner and the team…we have so many who help us..no question…

Next week big MEMORIAL DAY SALES.. at our Mt Vernon warehouse 2 Cortlandt Street in mt Vernon..no question..join us in this endeavor..Buy Green live Green Save Green..no question!!!! With that in Mind…join us in this THE SUMMER OF REAL CHANGE….

Ps thanks to all who helped go in the Mamoroneck river, who assisted in cleaning..more to follow on the new TOUCH THE WATER..notfor profit I am starting to complement the needed efforts of helping save our floodhomes, our water, and our communities….God bless!

To Live in Peace, Biblical Faith and the Changing Inner city, is one book, I am blessed to look at now…telling of the story of Baltimore and Harlem, with biblical references for great community development…be they Christian or Jewish..though the book comes from a mostly Christian perspective…The theology of the Hammer welcomes Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders and congregations to love one another and work together, to build community together…To Live in Peace….the author is Mark Gornik…and having been in Baltimore I saw transformation of Sandtown Baltimore from the New Song ministry.

Millard Fuller God rest his soul, founder of Habitat, would always say, Jim…you got to go see what these brothers and sisters are doing there…in a deep southern accent…

All we do, all of Habitats success from here to New Orleans, to S. Central LA to Charlotte, to El Salvador to Belfast to Haiti, is based upon ministry..

This weekend at Leahman College youth will sing and then build with us, to help change our work, to help us be filled with the Ruah, the Hebrew word for Spirit and help us change communities together..

Where are our Sandtowns of Westchester, Union Ave Mt Vernon, Elm Street Yonkers, Union Ave New Rochelle..your neighborhood?

Join us in prayer and action as we seek to lift up communities, with grassroots faith based efforts, with action in place! And Homes being built..homes of love no matter what congregation built them, no matter what hands, no matter whose sweat equity…God has blessed us….

The Mustard Seed..the parable by our Lord Jesus, is one which Millard and Linda, habitat volunteers, people of hope no matter what faith, is one which I love and helps us to realize..the smallness of something can turn into amazing blessed things in your life…I like to think we plant mustard seeds all over neighborhoods  in our world..all over our world in terms of Haiti, in terms of the three hundred homes we have built overseas since I have been here with the Board and your support and the more than 250 homes and rehabs we have done here in Westchester …..this week we pray for Union Avenue…the Mustard Seed will grow there, the Mustard Seed will take over four foreclosed homes and more…and the neighbors will help and more and more neighborhoods and lives will change…its springtime..come plant with us…….come build with us…the excitement is planting….the excitement is building…you can do amazing things today….plant a seed.. God bless…

In a book on inner city renewal..”renewing civil society is a very important overarching contribution of Christianity to urban life, not as justification of the status qo but in service of the transformation of community and the public sphere”  a book writtern about Maryland by Mark Gornik writes…this could be applied about Jewish theology and Muslim, the theology of Love issupposed to challenge us to rewew and  to Help Tikkum Elum.  Susan of the Jewish youth group called me yesterday..remember Jim what you said, Jacobs ladder…how do we climb Jacobs ladder daily..how to do we seek to heal the world, to help the world to challenge it to get better…what efforts do we do daily…I am going to start a Tikkum Elum group…to heal and help the world..and Westchester…part of the problem of just looking at inner city ministry is there is often no look at outer city ministery…how zoning, deregulation, prejudice of economic, ethnic and racial prejudice has caused our world to be full of cars, zoned out lots, houses with no sidewalks and false sense of community..and perhaps caring that we believe in the American Dream for all, or the worldwide dream of We are the World…we have the ability to help change things for the better…wont you help us today..

Nothing is in a vacuum, our economy, jobs, community, the love of each other..no congregation can really be about love if they are segregated, and no politician an American, if they continue with roots of prejudice, hidden in the guise of phony photo ops…. Join us, challenge us, build with us together..as we climb Jacobs ladder together..May God bless you in every way..

A blessed day overall…Happy Moms day…for sure….every day is gift..every second, every mom is gift…no question!

With that in mind I go to the Haitian church today to pray for Haitian Moms…for my own mom, who suffered..with the likes of loss of a husband on my sixteenth birthday, but raised us with hope and love and I am blessed..i got off  the phone..with someone who is working with me, a mom of millions….to fight dissentry, to fight poverty to help so many…the world can be changed, one call at a time, one day at a time..

When I went to Haiti , I was on the outskirts, and saw kids in the river…bathing with moms, but drinking the water..water is a killer, it is alife saver, but dissentry and unclean water is a killer…we are working on getting volunteers tohelp in some areas to build filters for water…stay tuned, as well as homes..

Walls of Love..hands of love, hearts of Love….Abraham Lincoln talked about the arms of a mom rule the world…guide the world, guide the future of their children…with that we work with moms, and guide the continuing lives of the children,  in walls of love..Habitat homes…multiplied..across the country and the world..yesterday I want to thank Riverdale Presbyterian church and the Larchmont Temple brotherhood for volunteering with us…

Helping us, building with us…we worked in our nine home neighborhood and saw volunteers with us, changing the neighborhood…a former lot now a Habitat community garden where we will have a cookout there….Veronica a mom of triplets came running, we helped the volunteers in the garden, it looks great…Mrs. Diaz..Mr Rosales and more worked with Judy and Susy like I did in the morning in the rain, transforming the lot…we have changed lives together, walls of Love Hands of Love,

Triplets for Triplets….during the week, trhee triplets from Valhalla coming from Suny Binghamton, came into my office, you are recipients I told them of scholarship money, for school, for your lives, for your hope, for your career by the Lanza family foundation…they are getting their school out involved with habitat, they are building, they are starting anti bullying campaigns, and helping us all over.. what a blessing…..

So the triplets will mentor Veronicas triplets who are 8 years old…

To all the Moms to all the Dads, to all the kids the triplets to all of your family..Happy Moms day, Happy day of Love, be Blessed!!!!!!

A great morning..early morning calls a time when not too many interruptions…time to pray, write grants, think of the day past, the day ahead..think of changing neighborhoods, lives, families, volunteers, donors..all blessed to be part of Habitat.

Today I got to a prayer breakfast that in 2007 founder Millard Fuller spoke at….you could hear a pin drop when he spoke…the former Mayor of White Plains, two years later..spoke at a big event at the Sheraton in Manhattan for us..with dgnitaries, ceos and more…and got up and talked about Millads speech that day, and how it inspired every person in the room……

Who inspires you in your life…where are they leading you..what do they lead you into…Habitat heroes are those like Tom Roach who is city council president of White Plains..but he is not the hero, his two sons, 5 and 7 are, who raised their hands in a packed white plains room with a hammer like motion and showed everyone they all had to Hammer with Habitat..( I know Tom is the hero to his kids and many) Habitat heros is Tess who comes in to

Help us this summer, coming back, from high school, college, and now a lawyer to be..she will help us with legal work…Habitat heros is Eliah who was on my radio show, who is on the Westchester Youth Council, who said, we have to Green the community…Habitat heroes are Rose Browns kids who looked at the plans at our event in White Plains…with a Christmas morning like Joy in their eyes, which one is my room….waiting for the home to come….

Who Inspires you…will you be a Habitat Heroe….God bless, with gratitude and prayer

Ezekiel 34: 18 states, Was it not enough for you to graze on the best pasture, that you had the trample the rest of your pastures with your feet?  Was it not enough for you to drink the clearest water…that you had to foul the remainder with your feet?  Thus my sheep had to graze on what your feet had trampled and drink what your feet had fouled….

This reminds me in my morning prayer, how we have to save the earth…no matter what faith, we are keepers of the kingdom..and stewards ot the planet and community…This morning an email from my friends at WJCS states, Jim, you reminded us about Jacobs Ladder, to climb it to build it to help protect it…Tikkum ellum..and to do good mitzvah..what an honor to be remembered in that way..

How are we saving our communities, how are we greening our communities, how has too much development trampled the pastures of our communities, with too much concrete, too many malls, few main streets, and little affordable homes..

But as we know later and in the Torah and Bible, the earth can be Renewed, we like in Isiash can be Repairers of the Breach…if not us,,…who…..God bless you..

Parade Sunday Magazine touches upon where America Lives..

Where do we live..how do we build community..today I had a high school group who said they have no sidewalks in front of their homes..yikes.

Green homes mean small homes…clean and not large…helping to know your neighbors..you can still save more money by having a small home, saving energy..and use it for taking more trips.. a better eduation..or whatever…also use different pavers now, no concrete..pervious pavers help..change the way we design our world now…

Thanks to the Junior League for all the help with the bikeathon. The JLNW, Pelham Junior League and the Mid Hudson..a blessing.

Today look at every bit of concrete see if it might be green, imagine it green, a garden. Pervious pavers, imagine main streets with street fairs, and cars rerouted away from peoples air quality and their moms and children who walk up and down…it can happen..across the country..green movements and walkable cities are changing school yards, corporate areas..municipal housing, etc…

This weekend we worked on six homes, painted aplayground, built a tool shed for a community garden, and worked in our Restoers…
