The Roof goes on The roof goes on.. a great day when you know this is happening..when we see things like the roof, plumbing, walls go up on a home..pray for each wall to be a labor of love..
like the ones on an elderly persons home in Pound Ridge..needs immense help for sure. or the family hoping we rehab a home in Mt Vernon.. for sure..and also a family awaits in
when the roof goes on, when the work goes on, when the volunteers get out and work.. what a great world we live in..
or perhaps a family with their son who lost their leg...who needs a wheelchair..
the work goes on..and the famlies of different race and ethnicity await their homes due to a lawsuit...what will go on from here, lets see..

Helping today all over the county, we have work in Municipal housing authroity..we also are working on a site in Mt VErnon ...glad to get a tour with Lou Albano...Lou works in planning a great guy..Curtis and his mom Barbara have a home to be rehabbed in a big way, in Mt Vernon...lots to be done..

Yesterday we had a LOVE CALL..sounds wierd right, but...Chris from the
a story of love...helping a senior during Building on Faith week with their house.. they will work on the site at the same time....with people of faith and no faith...Sat Sept 12th kicking off our Building on Faith..they will use the Hammer,and the painbrush and the sweat and the windows of instruments of LOVE... go figure..
so what are typically segregated groups on weekends, are brought together on site in the Theology of Love, in the Theology of the Hammer!

today we celebrate our work with SENIORS...being made so much that our HOPES LUNCHEON will be held...one that celebrates how retirees volunteer with us as well as how we help rehab seniors homes...Ron Walker, a retired executive leads HOPEs and helps to join us in being a leader in helping retirees realize that they are retired from work but not from life...with that our work at Restores are run by retirees, our seniors lead some of our sties, and affiliates across the country and we move ahead togetehr to celebrate each senior in our county...Join us...at Bella Bellas at noon today..

SPANO PRESSES CASE FOR HOUSING PLAN…he had to go to county legislators to ask their approval..today I am honored to meet with Marty Rogowsky an old friend and legislator…what to do, a real challenge for all involved…for years I had asked thecounty to use not a carrot but a stick to integrate housing..the only way it could be done…the carrot was used, and the stick came down on the coiunty for not using the stick on local communities that did not integrate minorities in communities….I can relate..my ex wife and I were shown only certain communities in our lives..to go to look at ..we were excluded from looking at certain neighborhoods…our neighbors when we moved into
The world we live in..but God is working ..and a new day is here…stay tuned..

NATIONAL HEADLINES…HOUSING ACCORD IN
This significant lawsuit that the county of Westchester had to settle finally lets us se what has really been going on…Segregation has been alive and well for years…I have always said the county was the one not responsible, not Yonkers…the do gooders of caring over there, but not having any affordable homes in their own town, have caused amazing problems and environmental nitemares of workers having to travel over the Tappan Zee Bridge..
What does this mean…like a health care town meeting, does this mean inhouse fighting…like years ago, does this mean people fighing over property values..it means….we don’t know…lets hope it means that more affordable homes will be built. The 50 MILLION DOLLAR settlement, is one unheard of…47 municipalities have taken

Go Green with Habitat..!!!!! for sure, during this summer of change we want to go GREEN! NO QUESTION! What does that mean..everyone is going green..last nite a discussion with someone said..Going green means eating less meat..an inconvenient truth for those who didnt put in their movie.....meaning that methane gas from cattle produced that we eat...creates more gases hurting the environment than anything..
GOING GREEN! do we cut off our electric supplies and pull our plugs at nite...
Go Green! do we walk more rather than drive!!!!!
Go Green, are we getting our homes, wrapped tite this summer so that in the winter our Con Ed bills will not be so high
Go Green! call us at 1888 9 Habitat, for so many tips that we can share with you..including buying our recycled Green flooring! the time is now! for sure!

Today we are blessed the Virginia kids from Kempsville church enjoys their final day and their day off to enjoyWestchester and NYC,...their work for a week on a flood home in Yonkers, was invaluable to Jacqueline and her family...where water rushed in and pushed her doors open...and flooded her home in three feet of water.....thank you Rev. Dan and troops..
Along with that volunteers all over the world are building wiht us..i want to thank my friends in city hall in Mt Vernon, our work is getting back in gear there, with rehabs of two seniors homes....also this morning we revisit with our Ossining LPC,, Mayor Hanauer, Supervisor Borgia, Supervisor Gerard, and our friends from Ossining Ralph and Muffy Degnan, John Gallagher, and the Clements, representing the high school and our first LPC there..also thanks to Tom Johnson who will lead our work in Montrose and Buchanan....a world to change a county to change the summer of Change..it all comes together...with your help.

A great busy Sat..Goldman Sachs will be on site shortly…volunteers in Mamoroneck and Yonkers today…our Cleveland rowers, just left, but were an inspiration…today 17 people from Virginia come in to work on our sites and on a flood home in Yonkers and other projects..The tornado that hit there was unbelievable…but we were able to work hard there, help and make it happen in a great way…to assist others…so we are happy to be able to see our Summer of Change continue!!!!!!! And more and more congregations are getting involved with us which is amazing!
Join us…The excitement is Building!!!!
