INTERESTING TIMNES, LAST NITE, I WENT TO RIDE MY BIKE IN MANHATAN...AFTER ATTENDING A CHURCH SERVICE..WHERE I MET TWO SISTERS FROM NIGERIA, AS WELL AS OTHERS WHO NEEDED HOME .. AT THE SERVICE...I CONTINUED TO RIDE MY BIKE AND VISITED HOMELESS PEOPLE IN FRONT OF FIFTH AVE PRESBYTERIAN AND IN FRONT OF ST BARTHOLOMEWS...VISITING THE PEOPLE..THE NUMBERS ARE INCREASING EARLIER..ONE GENTLEMAN SAID. I WENT FOR A JOB INTERVIEW AND 85 PEOPLE SHOWED UP AT THE INTERVIEW...FOR 7 POSITIONS AT TGIFS HE TELLS ME...THEN THIS MORNING A PERSON LET GO OUT OF THE FINANCIAL WORLD. IS LOOKING FOR A JOB, JIM CAN I SEND YOU A RESUME...

STAY TUNED..THEN THIS MORNING A PERSON GETTING FORECLOSED ON HIS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT CALLS ALMOST CRYING, JIM CAN YOU HELP ME..

GOD PUTS US IN HABITAT IN SPECIAL PLACES TO BEGIN TO NEGOTIATE, MITIGATE. SALVAGE, SAVE. HELP MAKE SURE THAT LIFE CAN BE A BETTER PLACE FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE IN...WE NEED ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE AS GO INTO CLOSINGS ON FIVEHOMES..GO TO CONTINUE BUILDING FIVE MORE HOMES..AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO FOR THE FUTURE..IN HELPING THIS WORLD AND COUNTY TURN AROUND...THE KEY IS PRAYER, THEN ACTION AS YOU HAVE HEARD..NO MATTER WHAT FAITH YOU ARE..WITH GRATITUDE..J

AValon, New Rochelle High School, Solomon Schecter, a typical habitat week of volunteers thank God..all working hard, all helping, all doing great..all being part of the mix of Habitats blessings...all helping to build, to work on our restore, to help assist us, ...we also have in our work...going on, supplies being sold, a new Green warehouse, reselling cabinets, doors windows, etc..all helping us to move ahead and creatively gain support at a time when the economy is going south..however, it souinds odd, but i believe this will get us back to the basics, back the basics of building, of working of helpoing of making sure people have homes that last, have homes that can stand the test of time, homes that are green, homes that work for all of us...

and real communities....that is our model...we are blessed that like during Isaiahs time, our enemy, we will stand the test of fire..and of thier challenges..as when we stay focused on the Lord, doing right, stopping foreclosures, offering interest free mortgages like the book of Exodus asks us..we move ahead..so move ahead with us during this important time... with gratitude for another Habitat Sat....jjk

AN INTERESTING DAY TO SAY THE LEAST THE FOREIGN MARKETS GET CLOSED OVERNITE...HOMESHARING IS OCCURING.. PEOPLE ARE IN NEED OF HELP..NO QUESTion, we must start with prayer and guidance, no question...prayer and guidance for a better tomorrow, prayer and guidance for our future, and also do something good today..yes go out and help someone, if you do this it will help you realize the important things..give to others, pray and act.. we are acting on a number of fronts, looking at creating a mortgage finance council that will be productive for our communities. we also have been meeting aggressivle with municipalities over foreclosures being stopped..and helping in our local communtiies..

we also continue to build strong, your dollar, ten dollars, one hundred or more helps us build into the future for our families...

I spoke to the Yorktown rotary last ntie, what a powerful group.. what a strong group..no question, people from the planning office, from the local clerks office, from businesses and more, raising money for wheelchairs, for supplies, for people in need, holes in ones, speakers, and more…smallyet powerful,, thank  you fellow Rotarians…so many great service groups exist, the heart of Main  Streets in these the times of buzz words of main streets versus wall streets. I was most proud to have my son Joseph with me, who for years has sacrificed his time with me, for having me speak to such groups..they all clapped for him, my hero, as he has turned out an amazing son, a Rotarian in spirit and life, gentle yet strong and gives…thanks Joseph…thanks Rotarians…for sure..as a result I commited to fund a wheelchair to them, a wheelchair to get someone in mexico where they will deliver more than one hundred..they also are commited to brush with k indness projects and getting more land for us in Yorktown…why is Yorktown so important..because for me it was my first vol. project for Habitat for Humanity of Westchester when I first moved here, where we built a home off of crompound road..where I went in witner and waterproofed the deck, where we build trusses, a fifteenth of an inch off, and where we helped people have homes…..Yorktown is historic in more ways than one…for sure…so stay tuned..the Judge family did their bikeathon from Yorktown to Yonkers with  me, sometimes quicker than you could drive…kdding..but the traffic increases versus homes…time to change the equation…the wheels are turning folks the Yorktown rotary wheels, the Habitat wheels, the wheels of yours and mine hearts to create amazing things during this time…God bless, jjk

Psalm 65 a song of praise and joy for the green things of the world, the corn, the fields, the ridges the earth, the water, how God crowns us with so much goodness all of which we can say is important for our lives, we must start the day with a psalm of joy and praise..no question for being alive, for food, for friends, for challenges, for answers, for each other…join me in praying these next 13 days for our county in thanksgiving and hope, in anticipation and joy, and in faith and action…for our county to have homes from yonkers to Yorktown, from peekskill to portchester and Bronxville to Bedford…for true caring and creation of a county rich in resources, that we wipe out poverty in families lives….pray for each other pray for those in lack pray for our success in this our 20^th anniversary in the county…jjk

Just this morning on an early morning ride before my construction meeting...and i saw Melissa our mom who is a bus driver and the son of Julio in their driveway and in their room perspectively.. what an amazing blessing to know this whole neighborhood, once empty lots, abandoned, now have famlies thier,..like Natalie who graduated from college there..

I am particularly moved when i see Julios son, whose sister was killed with a stray bullet up the hill..in their new safe neighborhood and home down the hill, we created to take them out of harms way..no house can bring her back, but at least the family has peace of mind for thier two sons and new daughter of safety...that Melissa has a driveway and yard for her kids.. that Natalie and her family live in the best neighborhood in the world..yeah thats right...I believe it..and it is because of your help, your prayers, your sweat equity, your donatiion!!!!! so wake up tomorrow morning giving thanks that you helped families lives in amazing way..to live to have hope, and homes, to have safety and love..

Monday morning…volunteers come in, people visiting our Restores,  life is good, no question…we are busy helping to get our Green Initiatives off the ground in a strong way, no question…very strong..!!! we also are excited about our new ventures in trying to get condos off the ground..

We have so much we can do.. we believe our Mission is so important now, that we can cant wait to get in and work as a team to help others get involved.. Get involved this week so important.!!! May God bless you in all you do..

Sunday morning a b ike ride in fridid weather, for habitat, a blessing for all we have done..

With all in order we have much to do, much to work on, much to be grateful for …two churches, Bedofrd Presbyterian and Pt Lookout church inspire us to go ahead and make our world a better place by working in Mamoroneck and Yonkers…a clown comesin front of  our restore and childrens store, to bring joy to kids, donating her time…from Googledee…a benefit at nite by Dance connection….today easy like Sunday morning./. aprayer for our success. Much work to be done, much hope much joy..thankyou, jjk

Three new roc helle high school students come in...we need help...help us..

I do, I am blessed, and blessed also to help them think about the future, where are you going to live...

how much will it cost, why do you need a car..what is the future for you..what about real affordable homes and places for your future..all important questions that they understand..why do people who dont live here get tax breask on my parents back, one asks...he is on target..not for Target which is two miles away..

because it is time in all of our communities that we do REAL SMART GROWTH, GREEN, for our citizens..

What a great day and week. God has blessed us with so many friends...so many who helped us iwth our event at Chase, wtih our music, withour dance, with our celebrating history and ourhomes..one group today that helps us in a big way is a church from Pt Pleasant, LI coming to Praise the Lord and build homes...fifty strong, this important feat is one where we will be making strides to help be successful in getting volunteers on site, building four more homes. 

Yesterday I was blessed to meet iwth the city of Yonkers planning dept and then the Mayors dept, talking about more homes and moreland for the spring there, more homes in terms of neighborhoods and also green intiatitives to be able to get land so we can buld a 0 energy house during the spring..

heres to a blessed Saturday and thankyou so much to all who help us today..jjk

Today we celebrate our History, if we dont remember the History we wont know the future..with that in mind, we need to remember people like Norman Rockwell, or Linedecker or Remington, famous American artists who lived here, or the one hundred thousand world war I soldiers that came through here, or the great history of a radio station like wvox..or the History of Homes.....

in htis city and the County.. I beleive we will rise again in this world, out of this economic malaise and lack of confidence into a future with more stability, less greed and more community, I truly believe that...study the Great Depression, effots that happened.d..and how theygot out of it.

BLUE MONDAY.. PERHAPS IT WAS..if you lost a lot in the stock you might feel that way, however Blue MOnday was Big Blue Monday for me..speaking to the great company of IBM about them getting involved. I have been honored to speak there for a number of timers during a charitable campaign kickoff.. to help us raise support to help us to volunteer on our site, Rene Bill Macnamara. John Calleys and all the gang there a long with Robyn Bennett made me feel welcome and listened to the challenge I gave them..

 

It was probably the most challenging time for us to look at what we had to..to be there on the time when the mortgage crisis got us into the situastion we are in..no question..

but in that vain this CRISIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY..LET ME SAY IT AGAIN, THE CRISIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY.. to get back to basics, to get back to the real situastion we are in need of looking at...to help create real mortgages that are not fake, our mortgages are interest free.. no down payment... we are in the way that we find a chance to get back to real community...the gas crisis will lead us there, the mortgage crisis will....and our communities will be natural again, not based upon the computer, but upon neighbor, upon each other helping one another, God bless, jjk

 

ps a shout out to our golf committee, today is our Golf tournament, a tournament of success of great voluteerism by Joe French and Anthony Ruggieri and Brian Rachal and Ken Arndst and all the gang..

WHERE WE SPOKE OF THE STATUS OF THE STATE, NEEDS, ADVOCACY AND BUILDING..I AM PROUD OFWHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED HERE, AND BAR NONE NO AFFILIATES TAKE AS MANY VOLUNTEERS AS WE DO IN OUR WORK HERE..NO QUESTION..

THAT IS A STRENGTH, AND THE MORE VOLUNTEERS LEARN THE BETTER BUILDERS AND COMMUNITY CHANGERS THEY ARE…FOR BULDING A HABITAT HOME IS NOT JUST ABOUT THE ONE FAMILY, BUT ABOUT ALL FAMILIES…..BLESSED IN MY TRAVELS AFTER BINGHAMTON TO GO TO ALBANY AND RETURN, AND THEN SPEAK THIS MORNING AT BRONXVILLE REFORMED CHURCH A LONG TIME PARTNER..WHO NOW HAS CREATED AN ADVISORY AND ADVOCACY COMMITTEE TOHELP US …THE CRISIS THAT HITS MAIN STREET EFFECTS WALLSTREET, A CRISIS IN MT VERNON EFFECTS BRONXVILLE..THE DAYS OF VOIDS OF SPACE, IN BETWEEN COMMUNITIES WITH OUT ANY EFFECTING THE OTHER ARE OVER…!!!! THEY ALWAYS DID EFFECT, BUT NOW IT IS THAT MORE MORE VISIBLE, IN SOME WAYS UNDERSTOOD AND IN SOME WAYS SOLVABLE…YES SOLVABLE… WE HAD A DICUSSION ABOUT HOW HABITAT AND THE  CHURCH CAN PLAY SOME UNIQUE ROLES IN GALVANIZING PEOPLE TOGETHER AGAIN, IN GALVANIZING RESOURCES AND IN GALVANIZING FINANCIAL, FAITH AND FAMILIES INTO THE DIALOGUE AND SOLUTION OF THIS CRISIS, JUST THE BEGINNING, ..VERY EXCITING..

a great nite our High School advisory board met at IOna college..high schools from the Bronx and all over westvchester came..listening attently to our mission...listening attently about builds, about the crisis we are in, about changing the world to get it right...thank you all my leaders... Fox teen news is going to cover us in taping us for our commimtnet to youth, we need to be able to build everywhere in this county, we need to be able to know the next generation can have homes, we need to get it right now.

 

This week is IBM week in many ways we spoke there yesterday and I will kickoff their charitable campaign this week..with gratitude.. Big Blue step up , we need you...help us sponsor homes or a whole block, or homes across the country...and world..i know you can...

as we move ahead the Headline reads  Stock market has worst plunge in history..

no question..what a difficult world we live in..credit crisis, challenges, but we need to get back to basics for sure.. we need to move back so that we can move ahead..we can move ahead to make this world a better place..the politics of money is such that the vote goes down in Congress a congress with the lowest raiting..electiosn spend a billion dollars but none of them have an idea to help the economy..no one is building, except HABITAT...during this crisis we will be making announcements on what we can do to stop this madness, to creatively help people keep their homes, and creatively work with us on financially sound mortgages, mortgages with no interest..with no ability for us to lose thier home because some banker played with selling the mortgages..stay tuned, the excitement is building..

so on this the Jewish New Year, we say Shana Tovah. to our Jewish brothers and sisters to all our friends, to

a better year, with prayer and fasting and celebration and once again to see simple decent homes in place..

THEN ACT..act with us, get involved with us, help us.. build homes, open a restore in your community, start a project, get an Local project commitee going now...learn about advocacy and action and helping and home building with HABITAT...if we start with the basics again..our communities will be whole again... we have been robbed by many who steal from this county, in the form of coropraote welfare, int eh fomr of huge tax breaks on our backs in the form of mortgages iwthout meaning or substance and false financial help..
