Iona strong, Ardsley strong,  volunteers strong..

We continue to work in ways that are going to help us move ahead with thousands of volunteers..no question.

We had Ohio and California volunteers this past two weeks.

We had our gala….

We had two foundations filled with gravel, we taped another home.. we helped fire victims from Pelham Road,

We helped kick off another restores beginning..

With all that’s simple neighborhoods deserve simple things..

Slow traffic, walkable area, walking police, green space, home ownership and much  more..

In each neighborhood we are in….we see time and time again…when the above exist, life exits..

When it does not…we see challenges, be it on Main St. In SoNo New Rochelle, or

In a neighborhood where cars rip thru…we have to change these things now..

Join us in creating green, safe, clean, neighborhoods for families in need…its time..

=-7ake a prayer walk or run today or bike ride…pray for each other, our familes, ny our country.  Two of my favorite places to walk and pray at NYC, SoNo New Rochelle, and Five Island Park.

At nite often I walk to the world trade center, and pray ..for the lives lost, for the hope of a better tomorrow, for a better ny. Today five island park, I walked to and around in NewRochelle, amazing…beautiful (see photos Instagram) rediscovering our local area, with gratitude is spiritual and I am blessed to have our HQ and center here.  And also walking around our neighborhood in SoNoNew Rochelle is something so grateful to walk and pray and then work hard to help get families home! Pray and act..Faith in Action..its time!

Easter Sunday….today I feel like  I saw St Francis, Rabbi Heschel, Mother Teresa, Millard Fuller, Martin Luther King, RFK, all working on a site together at our Habitat home…

Visions of He is Risen, Visions of communities rising, of this country rising and the world.  What a blessed world we live in.

I am honored to have met Mother Teresa and Millard Fuller, two who took to heart the gospel message in their own way…one a Bandaid approach to keep people alive, the other to end poverty to help people have wealth.   Both utilizing the Torah and Gospel to help put Faith into Action.   Prayer being the Key in Mothers life, a Holy Hour, then acting to reach out to those we often try to stay away from, homeless, mentally ill, smelly people on the street….those who are outcasts,…those others denied, saw Millard, who prayed often , take to heart that all should live in a simple decent home!

I am so blessed then to meet many like you, like Mary Bonner, like Pat Lanza, like Rich and Ron, on sites, and others, who prayed, who witnessed who loved and love, in giving

May you Rise this day in prayer and love..each person in front of you, is a gift….you are too.

Heres to a great Passover week, and Holy Week, What a blessing, our work continues…we helped with our work in breaking  Matzah and remembering how blessed we are , and to give back

To others, is the heart of the Seder, or every religion, tikkum elum.

We are are also preparing to remember our Passion of the Lord, on the sites….of Marines who gave their blood and return and have no home, of those who dream of trying to make it in NY, but are burdened by high costs, of those who are hoping to have a great future, but also see violence.

One of our families walked in yesterday…came to pay her mortgage, on time, religiously .   She asks how she can help stop violence in some of the neighborhoods..

Are you going to have a march….please.. violence, guns, shooting, remember that many live in fear..

Lets pray for a better safer Westchester and community, more affordable…and Then join the FATIH IN ACTION TEAM! Its time!

Email jim@habitatwc.org                  May God bless you and yours this Holy Week….take nothing for granted.  Please donate today http;//www.habitatwc.org

Hard to sleep, thinking of today, praying, for Pat, and her family..shes already in heaven..her memorial service, celebration today…

From walking into my office to help volunteer letters, to having breakfast every Friday at Fountain Diner, to her giving check after check for

Policemans familys, for Worcester schools, for Habitat on Willow, for fire victims on Pelham, for our Restore, to help assist us with our Veterans initiatives,

To Haiti, to new Orleans, to Hurricane Sandy and much much more..the giving kept on giving…..and as I smell the Easter flowers on my desk, and spring, often we would go to

Nurseries on Saturdays for our community gardens..a master gardener she loved to help get flowers, and plants.  Her seeds of Gods goodness in her heart will continue in her sons, her grandsons,

Her family..no doubt..

More importantly everything about her giving, the blessings she bestowed because she knew she was blessed, is the message of Holy Week, or Pesah, of the Resurrection, of Habitat of Westchester and in the world….so be a blessing to others…help give…familes lives depend upon it…Pat did, wont you..no matter how large or small, we are all put on earth to give! God bless you.

Pat we love you and our Lord is with you and you with Him..the essence of your faith in action.

Pat Lanzas birthday today…last year, having to work in the Hurricane area…flowers were sent..but once a week or more Pat always gave time to me to help hear who needed help…..fire victims need help Pat, kids need scholarship…we are going to haiti, New Orleans, our trip is on, can you help sponsor a Katrina house. Pat the Mamoroneck floods are devastating, can you help us with tool containers around the village….on and on and on….from Worcester, to Africa, to Haiti to here…always she was ready to give.  Not shy she would go into the “worst”  neighborhoods, which had some of the best people.  She celebrates in heaven with her husband Frank today…playing tennis, laughing, hoping her seeds of goodness and greatness, philanthropy and love, prudence and guidance, continue on…..we will Pat we will…you taught us all. God bless the Lanza family..j

This morning, we remember our dear friend and supporter Mrs Patricia Lanza….

A friend who loved us, who helped work with us, who supported us, she passed last nite peacefully.

We are devastated, but we are rewarded to know that she is in heaven.

Pat came to us by volunteering, walking in the office.  I want to help.  Not knowing who she was, she started helping me write letters.

We  had no funds for a secretary, for help, for anyone. She kept coming.  I used to meet her for breakfast once a week, tell her our work, share about those in need, and she would share her wisdom her humor, her love. Out of the blue one day, a check came…from there it helped us to make it so we could begin to get strong…and more support and much more.  She also was quick to support other causes we knew people were in need for.  A policeman would die, I would ask her to help the family…in Mt Vernon, immediately support no question.

Fire victims on Pelham Road in New Rochelle, no question here.  School needs for inner city kids with no toys, or no after school program.  She was there.
We would go to the hood….and she would be working there, in the garden with us, painting, going for tours, meeting the people who needed a home.  Her faith was a witness, from faithfully going to a church that only inner city kids would go to, to reading scriptures and praying, to giving me Christian cds that were there for us, her love of Christ never stopped, her love of life, her fun spirit, her leprechaun laugh with me for St Pats, her support of Haiti, New Orleans, Banda Ache, floods in Mamoroneck, Hurricane Sandy…..the list goes on and on and on and on.   to Jim, Louie, Anthony, my surrogate brothers we all grieve her loss and celebrate her together.  Her last words to me were you are a special person.  Are you kidding Pat….you made everyone you met feel special….

In memory, and in prayer and in love to a most special person, Pat Lanza.

Early morning, getting ready for our work, our event, our life, a year of kicking off the next 25 years…life events come..

A life comes and moves closer to heaven…from the second we are born, we are put on earth to help one another.   St Augustine wrote about the City of God, dream with us on developing cities of God, no more ugly…NMU, about no more shootings, about every child a home…

We see some of the best and some of the worst in this county..no question.   We see people in need and we see people with greed. We see people who care and those who don’t…or as the song goes, “that’s life”..but there is another life..that is within us..as mentioned so many times..the Hebrew word, the Ruah..the breathe of God.  From the second we live, the Ruah is giving us life..to do good, to smile, to help to love and live….that Ruah is within us, and calls us to Tikkum Elum. To heal the world, to help us to make the world better…

Like building the city of God….like St Augustine wrote, a Saint, who changed from sinner to saint…and his mother St Monica prayed for him, like so many mothers of all backgrounds, jewish, irish, African American, Latinas, all praying for the Ruah to be within each son and daughter, for a great life…and the great life, is to help heal the world….building with Habitat across the world, like I have done, in El Salvador after earthquakes, in S. Central los Angeles and the Lower East Side, in central ward Newark, in Belfast in Glencairn and iris Close, in so many parts of the world…we look to heal the world, with Walls of Love and sweat equity…wont you join us? This Lent and Passover season..dont let the season pass us over as one that is not spiritual….on the contrary may it be one of the most spiritual season..followed by Faith in Action….you have ever had…let the Ruah give you breathe…God bless you

Framing up a house in Union Square, building a house in a week on National television, taking down the Regis and Kelly house, hitting the floods in Mamoroneck, hitting Hurricane Sandy hard…seeing youth come out and build, having groups come and build with us from across the country..hilites..hardlites too, hard hits hard hitting…

Our Volunteers are hard hitting…Millard used to say, the founder, we hit nails seven to ten times so they go in stronger..also we believe we have a higher power…

To that end, we move ahead with thousands of volunteers, to change the face of NY.
