   AFFORDABLE CONDOS AND HOMES, IN COMMUNITIES, DEPLETE THE CARBON FOOTPRINT BY

HAVING LESS POLLUTING WITH LESS COMMUTING...CREATING EXTENDED FAMILIES AND LESS STRESS ON PLACES LIKE THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE.

   ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF ENERGY AND ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION IS VITAL TO CUTTING THE CARBON FOOTPRINT..

Hi from Habitat for Humanity of Westchester,

Tonite we have our third annual Hearts Harleys and Habitat for Humanity of Westchester nite.. a great event…no question, with that in mind, we are excited to have great plans…

 

Also I am planning to help introduce the Greening of our Westchester downtowns, less cars, more exercise, more walking and more healthy environments….

We need to be able to do this, no question…we need to be able to have a life that God sees our earth in tact, with clean air, healthy not obese kids and adults and affordable coops and condos in our downtowns, exciting announcements to follow no question…God bless, jjk

what a day what a week, i ask you pray for the New Rochelle police...who have had a tough week..many police go thru difficult times, but also need to be blessed in their work..work that is important for them to be able to help protect us and help us..say a prayer for the police today if you can..

 

Also wed is the day i ask you pray for our staff adn board of directors..this important work is one where we need to pray for our success for our strength in adversity and for our guidance to continue to be better builders...builders of homes and hope incommunities....

 

Last today on WVOX on my radio station, remember we have a strong Cars for Homes program, one which can recycle your car and help us raise money...jjk

Today a snowy day, how many got foreclosed today, how many went without heat, how many spent fifty per cent of their paycheck on housing today and not enough for the rest..today we are in the Restore, and many have come in and tomorrow, so many untold hidden stories of ways we help people, as well as ways we re helped, no question..a gift from God to be here, a gift to know people...My green Initiatives I have started have a Buzz,  a trolley my idea to come down, regularly in the downtown, no cars, just hop on..with condos to be drawn by my dream tean..and solar panels to be placed on commercial buildings...and people walking and exercising more...GREEN IS GREEN IS GREEN...we can do this...this is vital for our future, for our world ..as the headline reads..tappan zee bridge, cannot be replaced. state in debt....homes on this side, truly affordable need to be designed and built now~~~~ make a donation to our GREEN INTATIVES TODAY..YOU WILL BE SURPRISED BY WHAT BLESSINGS ARE IN STORE FOR US ALL!!!! We can turn this madness back..commute less. live closer, live happier and have real community...THE EXCITEMENT IS STILL BUILDING....GREEN~~JJK

GREEN DESIGN TEAM MEMBERS STAND UP....join us, I have two architects ready to get on board and we can use more to give your expertise, with your input on designing our downtowns with Green proposals that will not be just luxury, but rather affordable condos...i have some drawings in, but need your input, there are many downtowns...Our Youth..Our Seniors, our Workforce need you..for the future...the future, is there one..its up to all of us to change it now...we can turn things back and make them better than before...

 

Yesterday I spoke to a pedicab company who is willing to help Habitats efforts and my efforts to make downtown Green no question...this opportunity is one where we have excellent support..and many businesses and residents want to see my Alternative Transportaton Club get off the ground with things such as these..stay tuned....

 

Why you might ask..because we need to have different ways we transport ourselves, different ways we commute, and not pollute.....as I took my six mile prayer walk in the city yesterday.. i could see why a proposal I read about free transportation by an advocate Ted Kheel, having validity....just like Mayor Bloombergs proposal for affordable homes, congestion pricing and London replication of their transport ways has values..stay tuned...

 

Last during this time of Passover and Lent, pray for our world, for our country and our county, and for our moving ahead, no matter what background you are...with great grattiude..

a meeting with Avalon on the top of their new building..discussion with architects, and dreamers and successful business people..then off to an Echo Bay meeting, in new rochelle, exciting plans for the future..

no question..20 per cent affordable homes they say, rentals or ownership comes to my mind, we will see if Forest City will be part of a great development for the future...looks good so far..then James from Avalon states he wants to get involved with our White PLains work, exciting...large developers have the ability with communities to not only make money but also be part of making great affordable homes..with groups like habitat and part of their designs...my mantra is now, do we think that only one developer in a county of one million people can be the only creative thinker of our time ...what will history mark us for in terms of how we designed communities, a community of one million people, 47 towns and cities..and the brightest and wealthiest in the country...cant we think out of the box, in the overused term..join us in thinking about different communities....

Here we are after a great day at our Restore..where we are working to help raise support..to raise more homes..volunteers from Thornton Donovon, Yonkers, New Rochelle, Iona Prep and more working..as well at our warehouse..

we also are working on our sites today...working away making sure that we have everything we need to finish our homes at the site, to find land for new homes...and to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism, with advocacy going on...

 

However we started the morning with the most important endeavor, a training on increasing local project commiittees in the county...representatives from Ossining, Yonkers, Larchmont,Mamoroneck, New Rochelle, and White Plains, along with Rye brook were represented...how do we have leaders who create teams across the county, passionate about habitat and advocacy and seeing people get into homes in the county.. an exciting endeavor and challenge for sure...

 

But with this our 20th anniversary, we are so happy to see so many commitees exploding, so many wanting to help so many ready to start.....

this is vital to our success..for sure...vital to what we are doing to make it work for the future, to make sure that we will make it happen...and have it unacceptable for anyone to go to bed at nite in substandard housing in the richest county in the world...

COMMITTEES THAT EXIST ARE WHITE PLAINS, YONKERS, NEW ROCHELLE, OSSINING, PEEKSKILL,

PORTCHESTER, MT VERNON, GREENBURGH, ARMONK, BEDFORD, ARMONK AND MORE...

some are stronger than others, and all need to constantly have great people like you help out and work on the committee with us...join us the Excitement is still Building!

 

Last I just got off the phone with Jack Meskunis who is working with us for the Harley Davidson Event, working to move ahead, to help us raise money for our local New Rochelle projects, with an event Feb 16th...

this coming Sat...a fun casino nite, this helps go right to our local new rochelle projects...on Lincoln Avenue.

interesting weekend to say the least..on one of the coldest days, people coming into the restore..

pictures of our houses in bedford and other areas going up and on our website, the fast track of our concrete homes going up..so exciting.. God is blessing so much...my good friend, referred to me as a stepchild of Mother teresa in one periodical....funny, though i met mother teresa, i have been called worse for sure, just glad to be at the dance, in neighborhoods where people want hope of having a home....a gift to be part of it..

also a brief on our concrete home dedication and more info being shared throughout....

this morning i took my prayer walk thru nyc, one of myfavorite things, as well as seeing different sites, ideas created and passing four places of worship from a great temple sharing about Shabbat to going to pray at St. Pats and then at Times Square Church...passing a homeless person, passing high rises, wondering whose home was affordable or not....always more questions everyday as i go then answers...but again, always grateful....tonite as it is frigid think of those in substandard homes or on the streets or with landlords who dont care about heat in their buildings...then do something about it to change it..with a song in my heart and a prayer for all of you, with gratitutde, jjk

today we are happy to celebrate our work in the County..

what a great day.. we are so happy for all our work, blessed for all our helpers..

happy to see so many helping us in so many ways..from our Restores to our work across the board, we are blessed to have so many homes being built and helped on...so many requests..what an honor it is for us to give of our selves and help others...and to have so many partners who join us from companies to congregations...today i dedicate this special note to Sally McGuire who passed away, a long time champion for our work at St. Augustines church in Larchmont, she was so helpful in everything we have done...no question...championing with Anne Avenius our work to be able to have an annual walk in larchmont, to get the parish involved, and to help us be successful in so much of what we do.. thank you Sally, may you be in heaven today..

yesterday i spoke to Thornton Donovon students..about how they can get involved, how they can change the world and join us ..thank you TD..tonite we have our high school advisory board meeting..only the beginning..

remember as you read this no matter what faith you are say a prayer for all of us, for those in the tornadoes and those who have no homes..with gratittude..jjk

Mardi Gras Tuesday, Super Tuesday for elections..! no question...

home ownership not on the agenda really in a lot of the talk and jargon i have heard..on this Super Tuesday I always dream about the money that went into the day and ads and campaign, could build everyone a home...for sure....who do you vote for...vote at least...the money spent on consultants, pundits, papers and politicians is obscene, then what happens, there becomes a disconnect..it has to change..lets pray for change..

this morning i meet with Jerry Webb CEO of Mattergy Solar Energy  a great friend, and supporter of our work..he is Co Chair of our Green downtown task force, no question...ready to assist us in any way, ready to guide us and work with us in ways that can help us make our homes energy efficient, they have donated

7 house panels to us, and he is working with me on changing minds and attitudes on greening our communities, from wind energy to solar to other areas..no question....stay tuned, we need to change things now..

if we dont, we are in big trouble...but we can change things...

along with that we are celebrating at the Gnarly Vine a benefit tonite..Mardi gras for Katrina families.. for our work in NOLA, no question.............should be awesome..so stay tuned Laissez Bontemps roulez..may you have a Blessed day in your work and fields, and in your home and family, in your voting and with your friends..peace, jjk

a great day no question! we are so happy that the SUPERBOWL WEEKEND was such a success. a success for us to be able to celebrate Pace U. and Iona and all our students, working with us, no question...an article in the journal news today..hilites our work, with the community and having doing something that was positive for a day that so many become couch potatoes..work went on in New Rochelle Yonkers, Rye and Bedford, no queston...it was a BLESSED DAY..

Broxnville, Irvington, Yonkers, Lincoln all our schools...so thank you for making our SUPERBOWL BUILDATHON SUCH A GREAT SUCCESS..also thank you so much for our helpers a tour Mardi Gras events,
