FW: blog

Today a family came in…after I got a text from Stacy..Jim trying to shortsale our house …in sandy area…she says.

Trying to cover our costs..just realizing your whole life is gone, and trying to shortsale your house, like so many, or figure if you can ever go back…well that becomes a hardship for sure….we worked on another sandy relief home today…

We cant wait to get back in..for sure.

With that in mind, we think of all those who have no home…

Like Fransisco and his wife Denise and three kids..Aug 20th I went to peekskill 100 displaced..we were there, like so many times..the challenge is no rooms at the inn, after people have to live the shelter or school . We distributed five truckloads of furniture, labor, love @25,000 of supplies as well as new beds, thanks to #TFAndrew Carpet One, the Fahys and so many who helped…

Today in the Restore Fransisco and Denise came in..she is head of the PTO, he a head chef…their lives changed forever as tomorrow, we help them move into a condo we were finishing rehabbing in Peekskill.  Gods timing…beautiful theymove into a bigger space, their lives changed forever..

Your donation helps us respond, hit the ground running, 1800 homes helped in Sandy, thousands here in Westchester,

Your donation keeps us going….with that in mind in all we do and say we give THANKS!

FW: blog

The way we roll, helping healthy hoods healthy homes..helping people live in whole neighborhoods..green space, solar, rain barrels, healthy activity, safe and complete streets and more..helping to be able have a world for kids to thrive..

Its not easy..here on Main st for instance people suffer including us from cars that go 40, 50 miles an hour, no control…asthma, while others in a local neighborhood association complain we have flower planters in front…no good deed, not the first time…we took an abandoned run down space and made it retail a restore and apartments.

Our fellow businesses love our work, our neighbors..we are fighting for environmental justice for the thousands who live on Main in SoNo newrochelle, who unhealthy cars  rip thru their hood..stay tuned..we are blessed to help lives and people have rights..

Along with that our Restore brings people from all over the tri state and the whole country…

800 Restores in the country…sales tax we have hired new rochellians..and brought people to Main st who have never been here….

We have been involved with changing neighborhoods throughout this county and hurricane Sandy..our vital work continues…no question.

With that in mind, God has blessed us ..the number one challenge for NY and its success….is not high end development, but really recreating neighborhoods….and encouraging creativity, healthy hoods, healthy main streets and long tern intergenerational homes and histories of families and small businesses..join us in this vital mission…stay tuned.

FW: blog

Ok #ShowmeaHero, we pray for the former Mayor of Yonkers..having worked with the city for more than 20 years, the great city of Yonkers, I remember when heard about the fines and lawsuits…hearing about it was very sad.

When I came to yonkers and we started to create home ownership there, on Willow, on Porach and Walnut, a District Attorney, my friend stated, stay off of the tree streets…for more than 25 years I am honored to work on the tree streets.

Heres my call, having worked in Mulford, in Cottage, in Schlobaum, on School street, taking families..

Ownership for all those families needs to happen now…I hated the lawsuit and saw millions not go into homes. I want to end poverty in my lifetime and theirs. We have created whole neighborhoods, from nothing to new. We have taken buried rubble that former contractors got paid for to haul away, and rebuilt. We have cleaned up streets, hired great people, from the hood, started the Habitat Fire Marching Band, created community gardens, been threatened for cleaning up areas, pulled bullets out of homes, built for Veterans like Ivan, who just wants the American Dream for his family…seen one of our family members killed in a rental apartment and now lives in a  safe Habitat home and neighborhood…helped start a Charter school..rehabbed other non charter schools….Show me a hero…I thank all the volunteers who are my heroes..who have helped us with millions ofdollars of donation to the neighborhoods and our donors…because of you we continue! God bless you!
