A student works..runs with us..builds with us..high school students everywhere..from there they work in the Habitat club or the A Team..then they go to work in college, and then a company…and still volunteer..

That’s how it works..awesome!

We are so grateful for the youth..the seeds get planted for a life of building and community service with Habitat of Westchester! We keep on keeping!!!! One of the students works today now with his company on site, he got involved….he states, it’s a spiritual thing..God helped us do this…I couldn’t put it any better..thank you to all my high school leaders, alumni past and present and all the team…and companies and congregations.. We welcome a group from Virginia our second group…and just sent back Boston from Holy Name church, a great group  whose it wa s their second trip..Also welcome Cisco today to our sites..way to go…Bill and his team from Cisco had emergency communications for us at the Rockaways the second week..when I asked..invaluable…along with Hughes…..they have been with us building and we are so grateful.

This time of year we kick it into high gear of NMU..No More Ugly..

Every step of the way, we want No More Ugly in any neighborhood from Mt Vernon to Yonkers, Peekskill to Ossining, from Auverne to Belle Harbor..no more ugly..

Some people like the team some don’t..but at this day and age even if the government has no money.. we have our hands..our volunteerism, our hearts, our flowers, and tomatoes.. our ability to make neighborhoods NMU..

So lets go..get on the team..walking down Mt Vernon avenue on the way to work..Kim stated, I need to help volunteer can I help you…I said do you believe in NMU..she said yes…she emailed me on the train shes coming out…what are you waiting for..the world is a beautiful place if you get involved..God bless you!

Faith in Action..mission work..Christian Charity, Mitzvah makers…SAI. Love all Serve all,

All faith in action groups helping us during this time…today we welcome Holy Name Youth Service Project from Boston….coming again…they showed up one Friday and worked hard..unannounced in the dead of winter..for us the youth groups and the companies are a part of our huge success…Faith inaction…Bnai Akivah, SAR, SAI groups from Israel…from India, from out of state all helping…what is your Faith in Action game plan in life…do you have one..we have Retirement Plans…we have Business Plans, Vacation Plans…can we part of your Faith in Action Plan…email relief@habitatwc.org  God bless you!

As we get ready for our kickoff for 25 years, and our American Dream Luncheon….this Thursday.. I think back over so many things..from walking into our first rehab on Willow where rubble and a dead pit bull were, and now we see five families live side by side…..

To working in Yorktown on a home, my first in the county as a volunteer, running up to volunteer to put waterproofing on the deck, for plywood there…to helping in the floods of mamoroneck and much much more.

 

Yesterday I have so many gifts daily come my way. A man from France walks in…I want to get our school involved..we continue in French and English…he has started a school in business but with a humanitarian component…all students work in service.  We got to talking about his career, Haiti and he worked with Paul Farmer, and Habitats across the country. He is on our team now.

 

A great not from Larry Chaflin, the CEO of Samuelson furniture comes in…Thank you for a great day Saturday, is the theme….”it was an honor to be associated with this and a true joy to be able to help others in time of need.  You and your team are responsible for a tremendous helping hand in this community.”

 

So many realize the essence of success is giving back, helping, being in service..be it a business school or a CEO..or a church or synagogue. We have only just begun….stay tuned for an exciting amazing next 25 years. God bless you..

6 am…meeting time for the Rockaway team..furniture distribution. Ordering of supplies, who is coming this week, a group from out of state and more..

This work continues to grow, as well as our work yesterday in Yonkers on our Veterans homes..

Each year, especially this our 25^th anniversary, we are blessed in Habitat of Westchester and throughout all the habitats…I think fondly of my days on boards of directors of Paterson NJ, NYC Habitat, Litchfield county habitat and president of Westchester….traveling to Belfast, Haiti, El Salvador, Mexico to build..knowing the founder Millard Fuller and his wife as personal friends and heroes.. God has blessed us all to be part of habitat….its time to get busy, we pick up supplies for our Restore,get ready for our American Dream luncheon, and help to get two more homes ready for starting…my life is good…get Habititis..join us…God love you.. jjk

Gun violence in NY, families still without homes from Sandy, stress of high taxes…no wonder it is difficult for  so many..but this weekend, we moved in families into homes..

Our hope comes in the Lord, who made heaven and earth..like the Psalmist says..

Praising God our hammers become our instruments, our volunteers or Hope Builders…

So many need to see that, ..in NY we need to pray and then act to make Affordable homes…simple decent green communities a right not a political issue that gets fought against. Vets need to come home to homes with a key and a job…work ing people need a right to be not burdened and seniors a right to  have their homes maintained and taxes not hitting them…to this  end we work, we move we pray..we act..
