Early morning, speaking today at a retirement party for Gretchen Fierenz..congrads..her most important work might have been in her last year …at Cornell Cooperative.       She helped to get trees donated to Breezy point dunes, fought for a greener resilient hurricane area, pushed for solar panels and much more.  She and her husband are good greenies….if you will the ones who know making the world green and healthy is so needed.. God bless Gretchen.

#Sandy relief..its still going on. today I say goodbye to our great friends from  st marys Episcopal church in Richmond Virginia, amazing..they have worked hard, from the Rockaways to Breezy, they transformed two congregations and two homes in four days..no question.

With that in mind, we move ahead..everyone thinks everyone is back in.not even close.  And we are still there…people get recognized..but we were there first, and are still there..please make a Sandy donation today…lives depend upon it.

Yesterday we thank #Institutionalinvestors, for coming out with us..to work.. a great day!

They are putting an ad in the newspaper for us, thank you. They worked in Battle Hill and Fred Bleakly

We also got Jayne Chases cabinets donated to our Restore, from Jayne and Chevy..they have been great green donors for a long time. Thanks Jayne!

We are blessed in all we do..today we welcome Goldman Sachs back out to our sites, amazing..

Tomorrow, we will have 100 plus volunteers..amazing..so many companies come out to #volunteer with us..

Join our vital mission! Also St Josephs will sell two by fours in the fall, Community synagogue will come out with us, and your faith community is waiting to come out in Action, like All Saints from Briarcliff, ..

With that we say praise God from who all blessings flow!

Fifty years ago, three people had been killed, during the Freedom Summer, when they were shot and beaten to death..one person Michael from Pelham had gone to fight for justice…to missisippi..some times, I feel the fight for justice from Pelham to M Vernon is the mason Dixon line of today..sophisticated prejudice is evil..zoning laws that exclude evil…kids who die and get shot next door in a city while others fly to the atlantis..well you know.

Fifty yeasrs after the #WARONPOVERTY we have just perpetuated poverty..programs and rentals are bandaids versus empowerment..political diatribes, with guaranteed lifetime pensions and no new ideas..perpetuate systems of archaic prejudice.

Faith communities sing and separate on fridasys sat and Sundays while kids get shot outside the door, and nice cars whiz away to dinner…

What have we really accomplished….stay tuned..this is the #FREEDOMSUMMER….

Sandy relief, up and moving today this Sunday..we welcome St Marys Richmond, Virginia…coming in today to help with our Sandy relief efforts…we are work to help the move away a hurricane out of homes….we have been doing amazing work and are still there, people cant believe it…they don’t want to think about it..in the beginning everyone was helping..now I have to get Virginia people in  to help..where churches and synagogues will sing this weekend, but no one helps…in ny..i don’t understand.

We need to keep going for sure…so thank you Virginia. This is the most traveled time in our history of volunteers, this week….wont you bring your congregation out for Sandy relief@

#Veterans initaitives…we are moving ahead strong! On a national call this week, we are honored to be seen as one of the strongest vets habitat in the country! I was on the initial habitat veteran steering committee nationally.  From there we have evolved.  Yesterday two more vets who needed housing came across to join us. God is bringing new veterans ever y day.  Our young veterans habitat club is strong, bar none. I started this effort with wounded warrior Victoria, who now has graduated college and is a nurse…about five years ago.  Our veterans outreach has been longer than that, for sure.  And now. We see new Vets come to us. We have hired Vets like Jason and Ron Marines who work in our Restore and in our Sandy relief. Also Gerald who is our construction manager with a baby on the way.   Mike and Nikki will move in shortly to see us have them assist with them having a new life, a new home on Battle Hill, Yonkers.  And in New Rochelle we are ready to convert a floor of our headquarters into a condo for a Veteran. Its time..every vet a home and a job.

BuildersCamp..now with our Builders camp full steam ahead, we still have time to have you sign up. People get a tool belt, instruction, and on the job training…amazing! We love our Builders camp which will go into a Buildlers school this fall. Amazing…

In all we do and say we give THANKS TO GOD For you, our readers, our donors..please donate today, we need it! God bless you!

So grateful for our work, for what we do..for our Local Project Committee leaders, we know as LPCs ..

Local committees..leadership..we have committees in NewRochelle, in White Plains, Yonkers,

Ossining, Peekskill and more..we have had them in Bedford, Larchmont, Somers, and all across the county..All Habitat is local.

As we move ahead start a committee in your town or city, be a leader, email jim@habitatwc.org for more info on how you can be a local leader, start a committee and make it happen! Its time.

Affordable home ownership is the number one important issue for NYs success and success of this country…it is time!

With that in mind, we give thanks to our Puerto Rican Day Parade friends, those who marched, our Puerto Rican American families the

#NPRDP committee. I remember going to visit Habitat Puerto Rico, where there was a request to support building homes for families outside San Juan near Martin Pena Canal. Visiting the Habitat the team was so pleased and we saw walls of love again there.

Walls of love..safe walls of love, we go to Yonkers to help create a new Neighborhood Revitalization effort deepening our work in the Ashburton corridor..amazing..stay tuned!

We have a ten point goal there for immediate transformation….

Tomorrow we gladly welcome the #Hyperlink Team out for a transformation day. Dave and Lucy and their team are amazing..ready to kick it hard, ready to transform lives, ready to change their neighborhoods and others….like our Gateways Initiative! On Mt Vernon Avenue!

We are so blessed to be able to transform neighborhoods and lives. At this point in my life, I know we can change any neighborhood..from working on the Lower east side when empty buildings abounded, and helped to transform it, to the toughest neighborhoods with the finest people I have ever met in my life, God has blessed me and Habitat with this gift now..

Last Sandy relief..dont think it is over by any means….we continue and next week we welcome a group from Virginia…to help us work to help us transform Sandy families homes!

Our work is really worthy of support.. Wont you make a donation today to our vital work..we need it for the summer of building and hope for our veterans and love for our neighbors! God bless you and God bless America! Bendiciones!

Every second in life is gift..no question..

We have many things happening today…one of my volunteer heroes is that of Bill Deknaetel of #Cisco. Bill has championed our work for years, helping us to be able to take much of our work to a different level.  Today he brings another 50 people out with us, working hard, his fourth year at least of changing a neighborhood we call Battle Hill, the Battle for Veterans, the Battle to take it back..

We have strategically gone through the revitalization of the neighborhood..Bill has been there, he has gotten his kids teen group involved..he has gotten his company involved, he has gotten himself involved….Bill cant thank you enough for all you have done and do!

On a different note it is D Day, I remember my uncles my moms three brothers, all were in WW2..they came home with heroes welcome…telling stories of Anzio, Europe, and more…one a Governors assistant, the other a post office manager, the third a bank examiner..three brothers, who dad died when they grew up in a family of nine…they gave their life on the line in service…and came back and loved this country and their familes…one son when off to war…to Vietnam…and never returned…the D Day for the Vietnam Vets was not there..never was..the war that was always questioned, Vietnam Vets were and are heroes..

Then from Korea, to every day service, to the Gulf War, to present day heroes like Michelle my assistant a wounded warrior and two Mike and Nikki, who are marines who met in Iraq to get our first Vets homes..they put their life on the line..like Ivan, deployed and next on the list.

Our soldiers, our freedoms, our lives..every day is D Day for those who went and remember, we remember them, not just in ceremony, but real hiring, of vets, real building of homes for vets in Welcome Home Houses…please contribute to this, come and volunteer in Battle Hill and see us make it happen….we have only just begun…and may you pray for a vet and help them today through our work. God bless America!

Early Morning ….welcome to Levitt Fuirst, to our A Team members, to those of us who help us and work with us..we are so grateful…Goldman Sachs, home owners, high school and college kids all building with us, from  here to the rockaways.  We cant complain for sure, …we work we move we see grat things happening.  The next two days for instance will be amazing along the Ashburton Corridor…in Yonkers…and on our #Veterans homes on High St.  Our two homes will see us building away with Veterans to be able to move two Marines into their homes….with their kids..a miracle.  A miracle because they said we could notdo it, they said we could not make it happen, they said we could not revitalize another neighborhood..and that veterans wont have a chance in this county.  Unbelievable.  But God had bigger plans…with Battle Hill and Levitt Fuirst, and our workers, we continue…with our young Veterans club and our Senior Vets, with donations such as that today from #Wellsfargo, who contributes 10,000 dollars today to us, as well as those who contribute inkind donations, like #Silverstein properties and Marty Burger.

All of this is amazing….we move we breathe we see Veterans lives change, niehgborhoods change….

What a world it is..a great world with Habitat of Westchester..

And in #Sandy relief, we see so many people work together, to help us….we just got notes from St Monincas in California..thank you for letting us be part of your mission, they write…they send shirts and hats to our workers, they send their prayers and love.  Next week a group comes in from Virginia…the work  continues….and my idea for a National Disaster University continues…no question..with Gods help and our work to help make NY more resilient, hurricane proof and stronger.  The Governor thinks so, he took my idea with the Vice President after having proposed it to his committee…he didn’t invite however to his kickoff…he should have.  Having been in Sandy relief…on January 24, 2013 councilman Rich Thomas stated, come and speak at Suny Purchase.  Ch 12 interviewed me on my idea to the Moreland Commission. Emails on record show I proposed the National Disaster University and the taped interview…stay tuned….a stronger NY…with that in mind we move and breathe, we work hard, God gives us great ideas…

Like the NDU./….and like NMU and many more.

This vital blessed team has only just  begun.

FW: BLOG

Life is good in the hood…the neighborhood, you know..from Sunset drive and bellair drive to that of Mt Vernon Avenue and Yonkers Avenue and Main St….all are hoods.made of people…often we rip thru those hoods with our cars..threatening peoples live, hurting or hitting them, polluting them, etc..our hood, no…we can rip thru, we go slow, thirty miles enforced…the car has been one of the most problematic machines of our century…fast speed, highways upon highways..streets becoming highways, like Main st in New Rochelle, the city continues slowly to do traffic studies, while people get hit, while cars speed like right now outside my office on a Sunday..and while no walking police or speed traps exist..crazy..stay tuned.

I have seen people hit by cars, concrete devastate green, zoning mandate parking for two cars, taking away yards for our families..and kids get shot and hurt, while our hood..is pretty, our hood, as taxpayers gets attending..usually in the north end, or in small towns, etc..you get the picture.

Neighborhood revitalization..just back from Mt Vernon, one of our tri city neighborhoods..yesterday we dropped ten more planters, on streets on 4th street, with our Mt Vernon Young heroes, our partners at harmony design, our friends from Iona athletic dept.

Speaking to my friends, a local policeman from Mt Vernon, he listened to our GATEWAY INITIATIVE EFFORTS..like that we created in Battle Hill and Ashburton in Yonkers…thirteen murders now no more in the neighborhood we are transforming

Including

A new restore

Rehabbed a new chamber building

Got on charter school board

Helped to drop twenty planters, created one community garden

Rehabbed one house and two more on the way.

Helped to create jobs for a Marine from Mt Vernon avenue who was on the street

Created Made in America shop

Engaged police in kicking out drugs and ladies of the night

Helped to paint ten storefronts.

And much more…….we love Mt Vernon. The Gateways, Yonkers and Mt Vernon avenue and from

Thanks to Hyperlink, Mt Vernon Heroes, Bronx River equipment, Anthony and all my small business friends and Mario…

We continue….

Headlines about Oklahoma star from mt Vernon shot with stray bullet continues to be an outcry, that is needed..to be shouted out, putting guns out, and hammers in hands of kids and teens..

The headline says top powerful three woman in westhcester, from IBM from Pepsi, from Chapaqua…

Help me help build homes for moms…its time.

God bless you..the journey continues off to speak …Praise God for whom all blessings flow!
