FW: blog

I just return from Yonkers..from the Andulusia school..from going to pick up two kids whose mom had no gas..

Who lives in New Ro..I give them a tour.."whether we are muslim, jew or christian, God wants us all  together, right to help one another, .." they get a whirlwind tour of our neighborhoods..three of them…..

It is like a winding road of love to me…for years, traveling, praying, changing, welcoming volunteers, helping, loving fighting, cleaning, building lives together, while building my own life….community gardens out of lots..murals out of abandonment, a marching band out of no instruments, on a parking lot now full of love, not cars…my life is great! God is great in my life..to help be part of change..wont you help..this Holy Season…no matter what faith or no faith………God bless..jjk

FW: blog

We are so blessed..this weekend we thank the French american School, the school at Byram Hills, new Rochelle High, Thornton donovon school, Eastchester high, French American School, trinity Lutheran Church, and many many more.

We have so many who want to help now. I walked into a restaurant and Dave Schribman, the president of Schribman Insurance Agency and the rotary of White Plains..comes over in New Rochelle and says, jim we want to get involved, we want to get out and help!

Our society, like I do everyday, sits in front of computers, we talk on Facebook and email, we sit at dinners upon dinners and in pews, we teach our kids computers, but not practical skills of building.

We need to be able to build again, make things again, work again, with our hands, with our hearts, with our love for community, not virtual communities, but real communities..

To that end we build….THE EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING!

What changes things..what do we do to help make our communities better…as I walk this early morning and say hola..dos periodicos por favor, cafĂ© con leche no azucar..I realize that all community is from the bottom up..thousands believe we need to create programs after programs..and there have been programs after programs..university study the problems    their endowments fund chairs around problems..while outside many of their walls, there is deep poverty…except for some universities like Clark U. and those that have embraced a town gown model of change….

In a meeting over yonkers..we discuss change…the buzz word..change comes with the people..Will our band leader of Habitats marching band, we started, knows we want the kids to build, with us, learning to build, grow with us, learning to grow with the habitat guerrilla gardeners..and study, while also playing music..

All of this is vital for our success..vital for change, ..

Every day the answers, new come from within all of us…change also comes from not all non diverse communities not changing their diversity, a controversial topic..that means all communities need diversity..God made us this way, not be to separate but to be diverse together, with all our blood He gave us the same color….so the journey continues….have a blessed day!

The week that was..

One of our most busy weeks yet in our history..

Four colleges, west point cadets, our spring kickoff luncheon…and much more

A parade that hilited habitat, and another group coming in from Indiana

A reporter asked me today about what about the lawsuit in Westchester county over 750 units

The real question is when do we do 7500 units..

When do we build green, creative amazingly designed affordable homes, that will help everyone have a simple decent home.

Rabbi and I spoke about Habitat being one big kibbutz..Msgr and I spoke about St Patrick would have been volunteering on a site with us..

How about you..the Excitement is still building! Join us!
