Luke states in Ch 11 "when you pray give us our daily bread"  ..we take so much for granted...ALWAYS IN MY MIND...a girl is killed when she comes home from a wedding, in an instant,..by a car..in nyc..a ministers daughter...someone jumps off a bridge..in Kibera Kenya, no plumbing..in other cuuntries no electrcity and some will die from no hunger or no good roof over their head...

 

What a world, be so grateful...today is Yom Kippur..where our jewish brothers and sisters stop to pray and reflect, renew and atone..we join you in prayer...

Today as i read the book of Isaiah, ch 57 verse 14, remebering the rebuilding of our homes of our lives, of our

ability to help othres with less.

 

Today we start in Somers NY to help a family.

We also paint with 50 A and E employees this morning...helping to be able to reach out and change the face of a housing authority building...1500 people liver in this building..some will become habitat homeowners..

 

i prayed this morning with someone from the J Teen program.

I want each group to cal me once, so i can join in prayer for our work this year...

every congregation, every J Teen group, every confirmation and  more...

it is a hstoric year...i got o Yorktown today, Harrison next week...stay tuned, the power of prayer for all of us together is immense,,join us...donate to us, we love you, in the spirit of the God of Isaiah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and the Ruah..jim

WAIT ON THE LORD...BE OF GOOD COURAGE STATES THE SCRIPTURE....

 

YESTERDAY ONE MILLION STUDENTS PRAYED BEFORE THEIR SCHOOLS..IN THE MORNING, GATHERING AROUNND THE SCHOOLS, CALLED "SEE YOU AT THE POLE!"  AT THE FLAGPOLE OF EVERY SCHOOL.....

WHAT A PROFOUND LEADERSHIP GOING ON, WHAT A PROFOUND THING TO SEE HAPPEN.......This hopeful endeavor shows our world is alive and well, our future bright with the youth praying together, it started in 1990....what a great thing for our students to pray for one another teachers, safety, wisdom and more...God bless you all....

 

 

With that in mind. maybe we should do a SEE YOU AT THE HOUSE! WE are blessed to have so many students come with us, so many that volunteer with us, so many that join us all the time!!!!! Like JFK students, and Polytechnic university students.. like New Rochelle high school students and yonkers high school students, like Yonkers and Gorton and Riverdale and more....God bless you all!!!!! You all inspire me everyday!!!!!!

Hi Holy Days...for our Jewish Brothers and Sisters...is every day a Hi Holy Day...for sure!

we pray, we fast, we live we work, we celebrate, we build!!!!!

Like pyramids once built, like Great Walls once risen, our sweat equity of all faiths in love in action, become a service, a Shabbat, a temple of love in the form of home, and tzedekah, and mitzvahs..with the Ruah breathing air into everyone of us..what a blessing this is..what a prayer of thanksgiving it is with our knees, our hands, our hearts...

 

Often my work takes me to say hi to all those who labor,..i go to hit a nail or two, move wood, or lift..then to the next site to say thanks, with ten towns and cities, it gets hard to work on each site on a Saturday or Sunday..but i am so blessed to see it all regularly...

today going from Mamoroneck to New Rochelle to Yonkers to Pound Ridge to Somers...what a blessing!!!!!

Today is Sept 20th..our busiest week in the history of Building on Faith in our county.. a blessing...may everyone who wakes up today wake with Praise to the One God we believe in, work together, and pray together, and then go forth and help others...for sure...this is an important thing that can help us in a big way...if we all would just pray early and give Thanks!  We give thanks for each of you who helps us. who works with us who prays with us and for and for our Habitat families volunteers and donors...have a blessed day, get your congregation out...to join us...to pray for us to build with us...and Give Thanks!

what a day, the week ended BUILDING ON FAITH...during the Jewish and Muslim High holidays..we built in faith with Christians Jewish and people of no faith.

 

Ionas campus ministry along withWebster Bank and Ossining high school led the charge..the Judge family also sponsored our Bike 2 Build event as well.. all working on sites in Mamoroneck, on sites in Yonkers, at Cottage Apartments and more...

and we had many volunteers 250 plus more than 20 groups this week..what a Holy Spirit filled week...

what a world we live in, what great blessings..what great freedom we have to build

 

Today i ask you to make a tithe to us in honor of Building on Faith week, in honor of the Jewish and Muslim and Christian and hindi messages that calls us not to kill but to love, not to fight but to frame homes, not to hit but to hammer walls of love in Habitat for Humanity homes....this endeavor is our Mission...we will end povertyhousingin our lifetime in Westchster County withyour help.

Kibera Kenya, a great Christian friend and successful business person withhis family go to Kibera..and are helping to start

amazing programs throughout the country there..during BUILDING ON FAITH WEEK, THIS WEEK WE SEND A TITHE CHECK TO HELP FUND AHOUSE IN KENYA...

 

We tithe undesignated monies to places all over the world...El Salvador, Sonsante, Tamilnadu India..it is one of our blessings..

I am still constantly amazed at the Holiness of Habitat, the Miracle of Habitat, to build in 200 countries to  build oin Kenya and all over the world..this amazing endeavor has blessed us to be able to give thanks to God for Mllard Fuller, for Clarence Jordan, for Martin Luther King, for many people who have helped us in this journey..

 

Like Dave Gibbons, who I dedicate this blog to...Dave passed away this weekend...a habitat director from early on, he gave his life in Service with a Smile...he recently was at a regional directors meeting..and we reminicsed about the old times, and the early days of habitat....ive been there for almost 30 years with Habitat...  Dave God bless you, may be in heaven...in ways that you can bless us withyour Habitat smile your heart of Service and your friendship of love you brought to everyone...!!!! God bless Dave....

 

Now back to present day Westchester...the lawsuit..continues the vote is TOMORROW..FOR THE DESEGREGATION OF WESTCHESTER...CAN YOU BELIEVE IT... Can we ever imagine what we can do if we really believe in Gods blessings…this Rosh Sho shanah…we pray for our Jewish Brothers and Sisters, Muslim brothers and sisters, Christian brothers and sisters, I do at least..

 

And the theology of the hammer, and God calls us to love one another…

Imagine if we can DREAM OF WHAT CAN BE FOR ALL FAMILIES IN THE COUNTY..!

 

On the radio this morning I heard about another shooting in Mt Vernon…what goes on…can you pray for me for not one more murder or shooting Mt Vernon…. Do we think it is ok because we might not live there.. there are phenomenal people in that community…

 

Great people who need help and suppor and prayers safe neigborhoods..i travel to pound ridge to help put on a roof there, to help people  there. An elderly person, but there is no shooting, not even a threat..why so different in one county…

 

 

Ok so here it is are we continue on our journey, can everyone have a home…can  everyone live decently…can everyone not be shot at..can God bless us all..can this county be amazing for ALL.. God bless!

a new day..npr interviews the lawyer about the lawsuit..a friend from Ct calls who used to work with me..states he heard about the lawsuit..what is going on ..he says .. a new day..

meetings all over, soon to be over, the lawsuit will be voted on..how many homes will this build, how many people of color get homes..how much density gets changed...soon to be told..what blessings will this bring..

God knows no color, no race, no ethnicity, no boundaries.....the world we make, the county we plan and design, the neighborhood we live in...how do you think God wants it to be...

a busy weekend, a weekend of reachout a weekend of service a weekend of faith and action, and the week continues...this monday morning i go ont he radio to talk about the housing settlement, and to me the opportunity arises for us to be able to lead with green faith filled affordable home ownership. This opportunity is one that will lead us to a county of love, integration and faith..

int he book of micah, Mary Bonner read the words of Micah over the Lardhmont Temple...Act Justly and walk humbly with our God!  this challenge to Jews,Christians and Muslims alike and all faiths has brought walls of prejudice down and walls of homes up.

 

What a great time this is for us to take an opportunity to embrace our world..embrace our future with a quilt of love, homes and diversity that we can all be proud of...

Yolanda Adams in the morning, TBN..the song goes..GOING UP YONDER, TO BE WITH OUR LORD, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHERE I AM GOING...

we all will go there, if we have faith..every religious book, the Torah, Bible, Koran talks about being with the Lrod..the common element as well in all three books is the father Abraham..we all come from,who looked to the heavens in gratitude...the common element in action for all three is the theology of the hammer, building together in Faith...to make heaven on earth, to Go Up Yonder, after we make it right here...can we do this..i truly believe iwth Gods help....and yours we can!

 

Today we welcome Harvey School coming out to build...60 strong, no question...working on sites, building, helping, working..preparing, what a great group, three days of 60 strong volunteers working togehter.. on sites, off sites...no question..thank you to Marc Brandon and to all the students, wroking together..

 

This weekend we have Larchmont Temple..Temple Tefilia, St Johns and Paul Holy Family, St. Lukes, and many many more joining us in our Building on Faith effort...what a great effort..for all of us!

 

I want to thank Bronxville Reformed Church for their partnership as well...assisting us and my meeting there yesterday. I was also blessed to meet with the Mayor of Bronxville,and the Village maanger yesterday....

a great labor day Saturday...all weekend long the Restores are doing great.working hard, Iona college students came in after a fire and got free supplies, thanks to Carpet One as well..

they help us with so much.. Also with all we do we need your help prayers and support now more than ever!!!!

We still have people waking up in substandard housing....someone might wake up like a senior did and said.>>Habitat! they can help....with your volunteer help sweat equity, donations and prayers, we can change the world, change the county.....now more than Ever!

hi i say in Croatian to Sven, how are you. great i hope..

we teaches me a few words in Croatian..hi i say in a little Patiois in Jamaican to the woman who shops daily...then i speak in Spanish to my friends in front of the bus stop and then a few words in Portuguese with my Brazilian friend owner, of the shop across the street..this is NY this is America..this is the beauty of our diversity. I started my first show in Spanish at WVOX once a month, honored to see it happen for sure...Thank you WVOX.. i had Marta Lopez from the countys hispanic services, and five business owners...all good..

we work together, we live together, we celebrate together we build community together all over...

Yesterday i spoke to my friend about Kibera Kenya...check out the worst slum in the world.we have it so good, we have so many great things in life going on..but imagine beng born in Kibera...we havfe a world ot change yet.....God bless you...

a great day on the Sound shore, and on the hudson and in Weschester.. we seem to have taken our kids and hidden them away from the water, from nature from activities outside, like our working with hands.. the computer promotes it, the tv, the gameboys etc...what about taking a walk by the waters today, what about taking a day working on the sites..learning how to build again...or paitning a picture..

 

all good, all important..all so vital about the health of our community.

 

living in New Rochelle i took a walk at Five Island Park this morning, praying, grateful realizing so few touch the water, or think about it or care about it...thinking about the Iona kids who have suffered with getting burned out of their home, thinkng about and praying about how good our God is, how much we take for granted and how we can change things..

 

Take a walk by the water, say a prayer this week, one for us, our families and for more...
