FW: blog

what a weekend..Thanksgiving weekend found so many people helping so many families..Helping one another is the key to all we do...thekey to our lives, the key to our work!

We are involved with working hard on homes in New Rochelle, in Yonkers, in Mt Vernon, in Somers, in Mt Kisco..today i am honored tohave Jim Palmer the village manager of Mt Kisco coming to visit with me at my office about helping seniors and possible new homes..

also Mt Vernon is off and running with us, helping us in a big way, looking to help us in all we do, assisting us in finidng land, rehabbing homes...it is a tough time, govt funds see school budgets being cut, seeing city budgets being cut, but that is where sweat equity and helping comes in again..real community building...a crisis is the opportunity to get out and help again with the spirit of volunteerism....

transition...yesterday i took my bike ride in New Rochelle and ended another ride in Grand centrail after getting off in Harlem...

first in New Ro, I rode past five island, hudson park, and past the home on pelham we rehabbed and the post office benches..and the Bracy apartments...all painted by Brush with Kindness volunteers..

then i took my bike later on the train got off in Harlem and rode down park avenue...kids were playing soccer after i left 125th and then 124th where i used to volunteer years ago where empty buildings stood and drug dealers tried to take down our building we were rehabbing for homeless...with Fr David Kirk and Emmaus House...

Then i went past many municipal housing authoritiies...thousands of people live in these...i always wish they were condos instead of managed apartments for families there...

along with that, i rode down Park avenue where the rich and famous live.. but also you see the homeless at nite outside one of the churches...

i think..where do people live..what a world we live in, wht a diverse world..what a diverse opportunity for habitat to help improve it, for sure...God bless

ps dont forget dec 10th is our holiday party at New Ro high school...
