Early morning ride to the airport…with Emporia of Kansas habitat, …we are grateful for all we have been blessed with, with Lainie and Blythe and the many volunteers…also a shout out to all the UMW volunteers who worked so hard to help us this week as well, in White Plains, in Yonkers, in Elmsford..what a great week..and then the Webb school comes in….Our final four, is made up of college students and high schoolers from around the country and from here…in Westchester, changing the world, changing the county one day at a time, one two by four at a time.
What a blessing to see Friday March 26, 2011 a day that a home was dropped unfinished.. a modular for the Brown family..when we look at all we are doing, we see that
Many are helping the Browns have a home. We utilize an unfinished modular like Baltimore Maryland habitat did, not long ago, to be able to utilize, so we can finish the homes quicker…..what a blessing. I also spoke the our new neighbors Maria. She owns the house next to the Brown family…we will help them with Brush with Kindness.
One of the greatest things to realize for our development and Community development of any neighborhood, is that a habitat home is not in a vacuum, nor is any neighbor…..a nice home, can be substandard if one doesn’t know their neighbors… a park can be run down, garbage can be thrown around, and blight can happen….we look to change blight, we look to change our whole neighborhoods…like we have on Willow, or on Fairview, or on Lafayette street, or more…
As move ahead in this vital exciting mission..we say habitat Oye…an African term for praise, for our neighbors, for the Browns and Maria, and for you…who we need you to help with your sweat equity, your love and your donation…what are you waiting for…VOLUNTEER OYE…God bless you!
