FW: blog

Day 40..in sandy territory..the beat goes on as we beat Sandy down so others may be lifted up.

To that end one of my outlets has always to been to walk in manhattan at nite..after long meetings, days of work…

Last nite I was able to get there after having been in Breezy and the l ower rockaways..

We gutted homes in rockaways, in breezy, in Roxbury, then delivered paint and compound we got donated..and helped to

Reachout and get ready for a huge volunteer weekend.  We are blessed we believe to have Americorp coming back to us in the form of rebuilders..

And we have the ability to  rebuild many homes with donations  of sheetrock from Feldman Lumber and others..

To that end, we kick it into high gear..we move ahead..we need your help.

As I walked from 32st to 20th to Houston, I thought of the streets from 32nd to 20th in the Rockaways..what a difference..

People are coming out of manhattan Christmas parties,on beautifully decorated streets, on areas that need support and help..

On areas that have sand and debris still on them..in the 20s many live in no better than shacks, small bungalows that became year round

Cottages, that now are filled with mold and they cant move out…the boardwalk,..( a piece I have small in my office and the burned out tree from Breezy)

Now is in disarray, while Union Square is abuzz…

The singers sing on stage at the garden..though we didn’t get a Garden party invite…and a singer on 1010 states, this is for all those who help..

Lots of guys on wall street aren’t helping, he says..”  that actually is not true..lots of guys on wall street are helping…and on 14th street and everywhere in between…

So I walk and pray, and get ready for another day….streets, from 20th to 220th…in the Rockaways and in Manhattan..imagine if everyone had a right to a simple decent green home..

That we implemented the army corps of engineer studies when they were recommended, and that the jeddy was still up..and had been built…

Thoughts from the hood of sandy..jjk
