FW: blog email blast

Six months anniversary of Sandy…what can I say..so much so little..somedays I am speechless..

Yesterday at ten am after getting volunteers going we prayed in Christ community church in Breezy in a church that still has no sheetrocked walls, that has been our command center..the roof shingles were being stripped while we sang Amazing Grace…and oh amazing grace has helped us come this far… a group from SAI came in and out..Love all serve all…they have been part of our partners for months…Crossroads church from Brooklyn..they brought lunch..

Veronica calls…Jim my mom is dying. We are trying to finish our home…please help….we have redone her beams of her floors..gutted her home..and are moving to help her strongly….

I met with Charles Boyce, we had cleaned up in front of the Sandy devastated home..met him for the first time, on W Market…do you want help….he looks at me with questions…sure…”

We go in ..we take up all the molded floors, we help with rip them up..we bring plywood, in one day..he has hope…fifteen volunteers  come in with me..we hit it hard..we will celebrate the day the family moves in..

He writes last nite “Thank you so much for your kind and generous assistance today. I look forward to continuing to work with you. So much was done today! Truly incredible!”

Sat we moved in the Vetters..stacy and her family helped us get them into their home in Roxbury, part of Breezy and the Rockaways..Stacy sends an email this morning…”its been six months…and I just want to go home Happy Monday” she wrote…. we will help her home…she knows that..

When groups have come and gone we are still there.. we continue to muck and gut homes…we continue to rehab homes, we just started moving families in..the stress on families is unbelievable…and on us too…with your support, your prayers, your donations.. we will help to rebuild the Rockaways..elevate homes, elevate the dialogue on rebuilding NY green and sustainable..and help to celebrate families like Charles’ and Stacy and so many more getting back in their homes. Your support is vital! God Bless you! Donate today…
