We welcome the Kabbalists to our site today, though who study Zohar, wisdom, love light and action..perhaps too simple on my part. In my life I have been exposed through disaster of Sandy, so many different religions..not just the traditional three, but those of religions from all over the world. Always intrigued, we see that religions move ahead, that most love life, and people and look for some type of action. That is why the theology of the hammer is so profound, so important, so valuable…we all see the light, have the light of love and God in our hearts, but then are moved to pick up the hammer, the hoe, the sheetrock, the walls of love, the garden greens, the weeds, the seeds, the nails, the shingles, the wood..all to help move the world ahead in a different way, in a different light and love, in better neighborhoods and community and peace. To this we recommit  today our efforts..stronger than ever…..NMU No More Ugle, NMP No More Poverty..NMV…No more Violence..only love..we love you, have a blessed day! jjk

FW: blog

Today I started super early in our gardens, new rochelle, mt Vernon, yonkers…checking out their quality, watering, and seeing how the day rises for people in different hoods..remember its good to be in the hood..no question..one business owner stops..jim way to go…I get in Sundays early for paper work, didn’t know you did this, Frank runs a nursery, we give him business, part of our neighborhood efforts to support local, while going green and building green…there in Mt Vernon, we have rehabbed an old bank building into a chamber and habitat offices, planted more than 50 planters, created our restore, worked with local police and businesses to kick out drugs and trouble..and helped to create the Gateways Initiative..

While writing this blog…Katie calls, I live in rockaways, I want to help you for four weeks before I go to college..awesome!

We are still in Sandy relief..few people believe or know it or care..many still aren’t back in their homes yet…

We have community gardens we were just asked to start in breezy at our command center at Christ Community Church.

I have also proposed a National Disaster University be created back in the Rockways, on 108th st..stay tuned..the Governor heard my idea in the Moreland Commission hearings, but never invited me when he used the idea, 80 days agao, when he announced it with VP Biden…show the love here Gov….I proposed it Jan 24, 2013 on record at Suny Purchase before your commission.

Ok back to neighborhood development, cause and effect..taxes too high…

Development development development…if you want development, it should make the life of citizens easier right… in 25 years in NY owning, now once did my taxes go down, anywhere…the burden has gotten tougher, forty year tax breaks, making a few millionaires for those who got tax breaks, the average citizenry did not get any relief..is that bright leadership..or decision making..i think now..now NY sees an exodus, with challenged affordable housing, and foreign investment jacking up real estate costs, while gentrifying, makes no sense to me….

So our mission continues. To fight for a long term intergenearational ny, one that will see us not burdened, that development will be from the bottom up…and that people can live for generations with home ownership and opportunity and jobs.  Stay tuned.

God bless, you, jjk

It has been an interesting week and fourth…today I went to church in Spanish at St marys in one of our turnover neighborhoods, the Gateways Initiative.  This neighborhood has been totally changed by us..opening the chamber and habitat offices, helping to kick out drugs and prostitutes, creating some pride and green space.. a new urban garden…on mcquestin and mt Vernon Avenue and also creating a place for customers to come at the Restore.  Amazing…God is good to give me the gift to transform hoods, hoods to good I call it.  I am blessed too to have two sons who have sacrificed so much for all the work I do, Dan and Joe, I love you sons..thank you for who you are.

Urban farming, stay tuned, I am creating a n organization of urban farmers. Green space is so healthy and important to pepples lives we work hard to bring them back with gardens and urban farms. Have to..amazing..so with that in mind I am creating TUF, stay tend for more…a conference is coming up.

Crosswalks, farms and grens healthier neighborhoods and homes. life is good in the hood…plus the Holy Spirit, the Ruah..in Hebre to help guide our every step.  May God bless you all today, NMU.. jjk

Early morning, speaking today at a retirement party for Gretchen Fierenz..congrads..her most important work might have been in her last year …at Cornell Cooperative.       She helped to get trees donated to Breezy point dunes, fought for a greener resilient hurricane area, pushed for solar panels and much more.  She and her husband are good greenies….if you will the ones who know making the world green and healthy is so needed.. God bless Gretchen.

#Sandy relief..its still going on. today I say goodbye to our great friends from  st marys Episcopal church in Richmond Virginia, amazing..they have worked hard, from the Rockaways to Breezy, they transformed two congregations and two homes in four days..no question.

With that in mind, we move ahead..everyone thinks everyone is back in.not even close.  And we are still there…people get recognized..but we were there first, and are still there..please make a Sandy donation today…lives depend upon it.

Yesterday we thank #Institutionalinvestors, for coming out with us..to work.. a great day!

They are putting an ad in the newspaper for us, thank you. They worked in Battle Hill and Fred Bleakly

We also got Jayne Chases cabinets donated to our Restore, from Jayne and Chevy..they have been great green donors for a long time. Thanks Jayne!

We are blessed in all we do..today we welcome Goldman Sachs back out to our sites, amazing..

Tomorrow, we will have 100 plus volunteers..amazing..so many companies come out to #volunteer with us..

Join our vital mission! Also St Josephs will sell two by fours in the fall, Community synagogue will come out with us, and your faith community is waiting to come out in Action, like All Saints from Briarcliff, ..

With that we say praise God from who all blessings flow!

Fifty years ago, three people had been killed, during the Freedom Summer, when they were shot and beaten to death..one person Michael from Pelham had gone to fight for justice…to missisippi..some times, I feel the fight for justice from Pelham to M Vernon is the mason Dixon line of today..sophisticated prejudice is evil..zoning laws that exclude evil…kids who die and get shot next door in a city while others fly to the atlantis..well you know.

Fifty yeasrs after the #WARONPOVERTY we have just perpetuated poverty..programs and rentals are bandaids versus empowerment..political diatribes, with guaranteed lifetime pensions and no new ideas..perpetuate systems of archaic prejudice.

Faith communities sing and separate on fridasys sat and Sundays while kids get shot outside the door, and nice cars whiz away to dinner…

What have we really accomplished….stay tuned..this is the #FREEDOMSUMMER….

Sandy relief, up and moving today this Sunday..we welcome St Marys Richmond, Virginia…coming in today to help with our Sandy relief efforts…we are work to help the move away a hurricane out of homes….we have been doing amazing work and are still there, people cant believe it…they don’t want to think about it..in the beginning everyone was helping..now I have to get Virginia people in  to help..where churches and synagogues will sing this weekend, but no one helps…in ny..i don’t understand.

We need to keep going for sure…so thank you Virginia. This is the most traveled time in our history of volunteers, this week….wont you bring your congregation out for Sandy relief@

#Veterans initaitives…we are moving ahead strong! On a national call this week, we are honored to be seen as one of the strongest vets habitat in the country! I was on the initial habitat veteran steering committee nationally.  From there we have evolved.  Yesterday two more vets who needed housing came across to join us. God is bringing new veterans ever y day.  Our young veterans habitat club is strong, bar none. I started this effort with wounded warrior Victoria, who now has graduated college and is a nurse…about five years ago.  Our veterans outreach has been longer than that, for sure.  And now. We see new Vets come to us. We have hired Vets like Jason and Ron Marines who work in our Restore and in our Sandy relief. Also Gerald who is our construction manager with a baby on the way.   Mike and Nikki will move in shortly to see us have them assist with them having a new life, a new home on Battle Hill, Yonkers.  And in New Rochelle we are ready to convert a floor of our headquarters into a condo for a Veteran. Its time..every vet a home and a job.

BuildersCamp..now with our Builders camp full steam ahead, we still have time to have you sign up. People get a tool belt, instruction, and on the job training…amazing! We love our Builders camp which will go into a Buildlers school this fall. Amazing…

In all we do and say we give THANKS TO GOD For you, our readers, our donors..please donate today, we need it! God bless you!

So grateful for our work, for what we do..for our Local Project Committee leaders, we know as LPCs ..

Local committees..leadership..we have committees in NewRochelle, in White Plains, Yonkers,

Ossining, Peekskill and more..we have had them in Bedford, Larchmont, Somers, and all across the county..All Habitat is local.

As we move ahead start a committee in your town or city, be a leader, email jim@habitatwc.org for more info on how you can be a local leader, start a committee and make it happen! Its time.

Affordable home ownership is the number one important issue for NYs success and success of this country…it is time!

With that in mind, we give thanks to our Puerto Rican Day Parade friends, those who marched, our Puerto Rican American families the

#NPRDP committee. I remember going to visit Habitat Puerto Rico, where there was a request to support building homes for families outside San Juan near Martin Pena Canal. Visiting the Habitat the team was so pleased and we saw walls of love again there.

Walls of love..safe walls of love, we go to Yonkers to help create a new Neighborhood Revitalization effort deepening our work in the Ashburton corridor..amazing..stay tuned!

We have a ten point goal there for immediate transformation….

Tomorrow we gladly welcome the #Hyperlink Team out for a transformation day. Dave and Lucy and their team are amazing..ready to kick it hard, ready to transform lives, ready to change their neighborhoods and others….like our Gateways Initiative! On Mt Vernon Avenue!

We are so blessed to be able to transform neighborhoods and lives. At this point in my life, I know we can change any neighborhood..from working on the Lower east side when empty buildings abounded, and helped to transform it, to the toughest neighborhoods with the finest people I have ever met in my life, God has blessed me and Habitat with this gift now..

Last Sandy relief..dont think it is over by any means….we continue and next week we welcome a group from Virginia…to help us work to help us transform Sandy families homes!

Our work is really worthy of support.. Wont you make a donation today to our vital work..we need it for the summer of building and hope for our veterans and love for our neighbors! God bless you and God bless America! Bendiciones!
