FW: blog

More and more headlines talk about are we in decline…#”Reversing American Decline.” In the #DailyNews..todays daily news opiKotkin, fellow of Urban studies, hilite Reagan and Clinton on creating jobs,

And how the middle class is being lost. It talks about a state of entitlement and benefits that is not lifting up..we know that.. the same models of perpetuating urban poverty rather than lifting people up, are at the heart of Habitats mission. Home ownership…..the American dream..  unlike the challenge of the any money goes, no credit check…Habitat has prudence, patience and people, connecting its mission to lifting people up.    Faith based, with the Love of God and Ruah as its wings..we move with thousands of volunteers here In Westchester and in the Rockaways to help rebuild Sandy relief homes and elevate the importance of bringing back affordable home ownership.  The models being espoused, touted and spoken about are not working from traditional war on poverty methods.  Housing projects are being knocked down, for more rentals while developers are making millions on this model and appointees tend to be political and are using old models.  The key is to chaqge this.

We are taking back empty foreclosed homes and creating the American Dream again in the form of interest free no down payment methods. Like the homesteading of the western frontier, or the Leavitt town of yesterday, we need a shift to this model aggressively.  Another hammer waiting to fall, not of the Habitat kind but financial crisis one, is that of the college debt. There is more debt for college kids then ever before….we need to make things again, products in this country and working at these jobs is something that needs to be valued, not demeaned. Manufacturing green products is one of our goals, and stay tuned for announcements.

We are sponsoring  a #WaronPoverty conference and ask you to join us. If interested email jim@habitatwc.org
