The fights continue…politics and people….homes affordable versus….uh..not living? What do those in positions think…most exited state for a reason NY….people leave, die in substandard housing, struggle to eat or have heat..

It makes no American Sense, no faithful sense, no economic sense.. Our Mission continues now more than ever.

We have to have affordable living in NY now..there is no question.  With that in mind, we continue..the blessings of life to change the face of NY, of Sandy families, of seniors and vets, of working Joes and Joses and Natalies.

May God bless you in all you do. Join us in this vital mission ..its time!

We welcome  50 vets to our sites today, working with us, helping us..joining us on #BattleHill in Yonkers..duly named because
of our commitment to #veterans young and old, as well as our commitment to taking back the Hill, from Broken down, to NMU

(No More Ugly) from blight to beauty, from substandard to superb…this how we roll..this is how we live, this is how we are blessed….we have many more vets to hire, to build for, to rebuild homes for …can you make a blessed donation today…

Ivan our veteran we build for, and with…worked to volunteer for a family, whose child was killed, we moved that family from a tough neighborhood to a great one..”it was the greatest feeling of accomplishment knowing that his family was receiving this house..i asked myself if I deserved a house..i was forced to live in public housing since the 80s and present.  Having to try to keep my family away from all the crime was stressful.  …having a habitat house would be a dream come true…”

I spoke to his troop before they deployed…I told the soldiers, when you come back apply for a home..he did, he is our next homeowner…God bless the Guzmans, Ivan, Habitat of Westchester, each mom and you..

FW: earthweek 2015 blog

Probably the most important that we have ever had in our history..

California is in a severe drought, cities all over this country as well as in other countries are suffering with water and drought.

Wars for water and energy are not far off.

With that in mind, we continue in our vital efforts..where we green communities, we change them from the bottom up.

Community gardens, healthy food, rain barrels, solar panels on homes and our headquarters, blue jean insulation

Structural insulated panels..(#SIPS) energy star appliances, and much much more.  Along with that we green whole neighborhoods, looking at energy efficiency creating a forum not only for our families but all families.

We also helped give out 200 trees n breezy point to grow to stop water and hold the dunes for the families.

During this earth week, join us for our Solar breakfast tomorrow..also join us for our trolley ride on Sunday as well as our palett gardening class.

Its time for us change NY from the bottom up. We are still helping in Hurricane Sandy areas, as well as helping change neighborhoods here, and across NY. God bless you..

Martin Luther King buildathon continues…the brilliance of a person who spoke out against injustice against

The lack of home ownership, education and more..and more…We have more than 300 volunteers all week long as we celebrate the Dream all week in building homes, painting community centers and boys clubs and more.

With that in mind our Faith based opportunities continue with people of all faiths and no faiths, helping us to build simple decent homes.

Last nite I attended #Hillsong church, to kick off in prayer my week to pray for justice, guidance and hope. They hope to build homes with us in our work in #Sandy relief where the injustice of insurance companies, lack of continuity and lack of dealing with disaster has left 16,000 families still without homes. Stacy just emailed me, she fights, yet #chase comes down to forclose on her.

What a world…there is no moral compass it seems…its time to change this.

The Moral compass, that is what Dr King used to direct his life, the Holy Spirit, the Ruah in Hebrew…he didn’t always want to speak up…nor do i..its easier not too.. but the loud silence of not speaking up is as loud as those who call each other horrible names…today many don’t speak up in Westchester.

I remember Marching to Zion..Habitat started in the first black white Christian community in southwest Georgia where Andrew Young stated to me, Jim it was so radical we were told not go there…Radical, black and white living together, radical, faith communities being diverse, radical, mason Dixon lines being crossed and housing being built in the North end of New Rochelle as well as the south..north county as well as the south…..Harrison is our Selma…its time to change this.

God is strong than politics, God is stronger than prejudice…I often wonder why I ended up here..but if I don’t speak up against economic and racial prejudice..well than kick me out…The Dream continues….everytime you help pick up a hammer with us you are a dream maker…..God bless you!

Today we culminate more than 300 volunteers t his week..amazing for our Martin Luther King buildathon. For many years we have been building, #HYP Habitat young professionals, Churches, Synagogues and many many more.. we continue all faiths and no faith to build.

These songs bind us together, help give  us courage, help us to march together….Martin once spoke..

For us our Songs of hammers on our sites, of people laughing while painting, or cleaning a neighborhood,

Or the songs of cutting wood…these songs are unifying songs so we continue strong for the future.

Real estate is through the roof again…10.3 million for a condo on the top of white plains building..

#Millenials cant afford to live here, seniors, working people..this is UNACCEPTABLE.

Yet many make out but not the average joe and jill.

Its time to change this!

As we march to TRANSFORM THIRTY NEIGHBORHOODS IN OUR 30/30 CAMPAIGN. We will embark on a study to change lives, to make everyneighborhood NMU No Mor Ugly, like when we worked on Bond Street yesterday..

We will continue to move ahead……

With that in mind, we are blessed, to help to build to continue.

Today we welcome Linda Tarant Reid to our Restore, ….aka bookstore today as she signs books on #DiscoveringBlackAmerica..

Also I am honored tonite my interview on #K-Love is on at 830…giving this ministry to Jesus, to those of all faiths who help in the theology of the hammer…now more than ever…we have a Dream…..and we will get to the mountain everytime another home owner moves in!

I think of singing Marching to Zion in a third line New Orleans band type event..after we eulogized Millard Fuller  with presidents and paupers at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. An honor where Dr King would preach..

We March to Zion with the Rugged Cross, where we trade it for a hammer today with our volunteers, with mitzvah and charity, with love and beatitudes in our hearts, with black and white and Hispanic and jew and all working together…

It’s the anniversary of Haiti!

It s also a day when the court monitor is challenging Harrison to do the housing it needs to.

Funny, groups get selective depending upon their political bent..

I don’t care about politics, it’s the people….democrats and republicans both have a responsibility to speak up

On this issue, no question…but selectively only one or two get picked while others remain silence..silence is deafening..

That is what is a challenge in this county as we prepare for our Martin Luther King buildathon…

We commend David McKay Wilson on his helping to keep the light of the Jim Crow North as I call it going.

God celebrates diversity, if you don’t think so, then get ready when its time…

If you believe in any HolyBook..then its time to speak up to build and rebuild.

And the thing is we can do it..look it as positive where we can design anything..

Where beautiful condos coops in Harrison and other towns will be for workers, the average jim and jill

Juan and Maria, Tony and Fransesca…come on..lets go Westchester!!!!!!

Kembe Fem, we are now more commited than ever to help in Haiti….but also more commited than ever

To make a diverse community inWestchester of all colors, of all languages…its time!
