FW: blog

Mt Vernon as the City of God…its time..I have been honored to work in this great city..helping for the past three weeks in what I call Aggressive Neighborhood Transformation…

With Volunteerism..and targeted street repairs of homes, cleanup, flowers and planters, relationships built…things can transform quickly.

Back in 1989 I made one of my first Community gardens on the lower East Side.. At that time, people would die of Aids on the street..drugs were everywhere, squatters buildings still there,…

With Williams College Alum, a St Josephs of Maine alum…and homeless and my staff..we built a community garden out of rubble…..today is stands..two blocks long..the lower east side is revitalized..Habitat has homes on E. 6th St..an amazing street in History, and life is good.

We make another community garden and park today on the corner of McQuestin and Mt Vernon Ave…with volunteers…we help to work together the great depts of the city..heres who is vital
